Nelson Scores 4 in Schroeder Win

Schroeder scored four of the last six goals to defeat Penn Yan 9-7.  The Warriors move to 3-1 with the win and the Mustangs fell to 2-3.  Sophomore Kelsey Nelson finished with four goals for Schroeder.  Payton Lill, also a sophomore, finished with 3g-1a and continues to lead the team in goals with a season total of 12g-5a.  The season totals for Schroeder can be found HERE.

The Warriors scored the opening goal with an unassisted goal from Lill.  The Mustangs took 5 minutes to answer and another 5 minutes to take their only lead of the game.  Syndey Bloom scored the first with Brienna Yonge scoring the second.  Bloom finished with 4g for Penn Yan.  The Warrior fought back with three more goals to end the quarter and take a 4-2 lead into halftime.

Much like in the first quarter, Lill opened the scoring with an unassisted goal. The Warriors led by 3 with 23:52 left in the game.  Penn Yan scored three goals unanswered to tie the game at 10:06 remaining.  Once again, Schroeder attempted to pull away.  Lill, Nelson (x2) and Gottorff scored to give Webster a 9-5 lead with less than four minutes remaining.  Penn Yan tried to mount another comeback and added two goals in the final two minutes.

Schroeder goalie Jorden Concordia (8th grade) finished at 30% between the pipes (3 saves).  However, she had an impressive game outside of the crease.  She finished with 6 ground balls and 3 interceptions.  She also had a 100% clear rate for the Warriors.  The Warriors will face Victor next and the Mustangs will look to Mynderse, both game are scheduled for 4/20.
