Burri Scores Six for Midlakes

- Devon Burri scored five of the first six goals of the game to give Midlakes the early lead over East Rochester.  The Screaming Eagles won 10-6 after a second quarter push from the Bombers.  Senior Sydney Jones finished with 1g-5a to take the team lead on assists with 10 this season.  Full season stats for MIDLAKES and EAST ROCHESTER can be found here.

Burri's first goal was very similar to most of her goals with an inside feed from a teammate to find her cutting towards the crease.  The first goal was assisted by Jones.  Jamie DeBoover scored the next goal during a scrum on the crease.  With 12:19 remaining, Burri scored her second during a broken clear.  She picked up the ball at midfield and ran straight to the goal.  The next two goals were both inside feeds from Jones with her fifth goal coming from Claire DeBoover.  The Bombers scored their only goal of hte half with an 8 meter free possession goal from Madilynn Walsh.  Of East Rochester's six goals, five were scored on free possession shots.

Midlakes finished the half with two more goals.  Jones scored her first goal with off a fast-break goal.  The draw control was brought in by Burri before giving it to Jones who dodged to the crease.  The final goal of the half was scored when Jones passed the ball into traffic and it bounced off of J. DeBoover's cross and into the goal.  The Screaming Eagles led 8-1 at halftime.

East Rochester scored the first three goals of the second half and five of the first six to bring the game within three before running out of time.  The first goal was scored by Walsh and the second goal of the half was scored by Allison Burns.  Burns' goal was the only non-free possession goal.  She drove from the top.  Walsh added her third goal to take the game to 8-4 and force a Midlakes time out.  Coming out of the time out Burri scored her sixth with an assist from Jones.  The Bombers scored two more goals with 8 meter goals from Christine Touranjoe and Burns.  The final goal of the game was scored by Midlakes with Claire DeBoover scoring assisted by Jessica Skellie.

In the cage for East Rochester, Frankie Puglisi finished with 9 recorded saves.  Midlakes' goalie Emily Miller had an impressive game and recorded 8 saves.  She had the majority of the saves in the second half as she kept the Bombers from closing the gap.  Draw control was split by halves with Midlakes winning the majority in the first half and East Rochester winning the majority in the second half.  The draw controls by Jones and Burri in the first half were a major reason that Midlakes was able to take such a large lead at halftime.  The Bombers simply did not have enough possessions in the first half.  In the second half, Maddilynn Mulcahy (3) and Walsh (3) began to win draws and give East Rochester time with the ball.

Both teams are scheduled for the next contest on Monday with Midlakes facing Waterloo and East Rochester facing Penn Yan.
