Barnhart Scores in Overtime for Waterloo

- Sam Barnhart scored her first goal of the night for Waterloo to give them the 8-7 overtime win over Geneva.  Both teams had the lead during regulation with the game being tied from 3-3 on to the final.  The Panthers took an early lead, but Waterloo scored four out of five straight goals to go into the second half tied 4-4.

Geneva scored the opening two goals in the first three minutes.  Treasure Bruce and Alicia Reuscher scored with Ali Turner and Sydney Mittiga providing the assists.  The Panthers held the lead for 15 minutes before Waterloo fought back to a 3-3 tie with 11:06 remaining and a goal from Keira O`Connor.  O`Connor finished with five of the eight goals for the Indians.  Both teams added one more goal before halftime with Geneva take the lead first with Reuscher's second goal and O`Connor tying the game again with 5:35 remaining in the half.

Waterloo came out of halftime and took their first lead of the game.  Logan Castiglione scored unassisted 2:43 into the second half.  Geneva tied the game with another feed from Turner (this time to Megan Kerr).  O`Connor scored her fourth a few minutes later to put the Indians back on top.  The Panthers responded with another set of back to back goals to change the lead for the final time.  Turner assisted the tying goal to Bruce and scored the go ahead goal unassisted.  Waterloo forced overtime with 9:17 reminiing in regulation with another goal from O`Connor.

In overtime, Barhart scored with 2:45 remaining in the first overtime period.  Both teams were evenly matched at the draw (each team won 8).  Reuscher won five to lead the Panthers and O`Connor won three to lead the Indians.  In the cage for Waterloo, Vanessa Walters recorded 13 saves (65%).  Geneva's Sydne Evans recorded 10 saves (56%).  Both teams have one game left in their regular season with Geneva playing Pal-Mac on Thursday and Waterloo playing Thomas on Wednesday.
