Irondequoit's Alvarado and Pease Lead Team to Victory

- Irondequoit ImageIrondequoit's Kierston Pease (2g-1a) and Celina Alvarado (2g-2a) were instrumental in the Eagles 6-5 victory over Pal-Mac.  Pease and Alvardo scored the first four goals to take control of the game.

Pease scored the opening goal less than four minutes into the game with an assist from Alvarado.  The Red Raider's kept up strong pressure and scored the next two goals to take back the lead.  Kendall Jones and Anna Leva scored for Pal-Mac.  Less than one minute later Pease scored again, with another assist from Alvarado.  The game stayed tied for four minutes before Alvarado scored her first; this time Pease fed the ball.  Andra Savage tied the game for the third time with an unassisted goal for the Red Raiders.

Irondequoit spent the last ten minutes of the quarter slowly looking for goals.  Alvarado added her second to take the lead 4-3 with 6:40 left on the clock.  The Eagles never trailed again.  Annie Brennan scored her lone goal to give the Eagles a two goal lead (5-3) going into halftime.

Pal-Mac played a strong second half (winning 2-1), but it was not enough to take the lead.  Emma Arnold scored two goals for the Red Raiders in the second half with Leah O'Sullivan scoring the lone Irondequoit goal.  The game ended with Pal-Mac pushing a fast-break down the field with 10 seconds left in the game.  Eagles' freshman defenseman Maira Brennan came up with the great defensive play to stop the drive and secure the win for Irondequoit.

In addition to scoring, Pease had a strong day at the draw with four draw controls.  In the cage, Lydia Fregosi finished with 6 recorded saves for Irondequoit.  The Red Raider's stand out player was freshman Emma Arnold.  Arnold finished the contest with 2g-1a and 2 draw controls.  She played strong in the second half and nearly brought the game back for Pal-Mac.  Junior goalie Sophia Leva finished with eight recorded saves.
