Howe and Pollack Lift Fairport to Finals

- Fairport scored the first goal and the game was never tied in their 9-5 win over Rush-Henrietta.  The second seeded Red Raiders took control of the game early and although the Royal Comets fought hard, they could not keep pace.  Maddie Howe finished the game with a team leading 4g-1a, as well as three draw controls.  Brittney Pollack finished with 1g-4a for the Red Raiders.  Junior midfielder Sydney Meagher was also a major factor in the win with 6 draw controls.  The Red Raiders won 11/16 draws.

Cameryn Dera scored the open goal during a broken clear.  Megan Konieczny brought the ball upfield and found Dera open on the other side of the crease.  Although Fairport scored 9 goals, sophomore goalie Leah DiDomenico finished with 11 saves (56%).  DiDomenico was impressive between the pipes and kept the game close for a long time.  Even late in the second half, she was making impressive saves and keeping the Royal Comets close.  Konieczny came back after the opening assisting to score the second goal.  She scored off a feed from Brittney Pollack.  Rush-Henrietta scored the next goal when Jenna Brill began with the ball off a dead ball behind the cage.  She drove to the cage and crossed the pass to Kate Mashewske.

Fairport came back with the next three goals including back to back unassisted goals from Howe at 21:08 and 19:12.  Howe assisted the third goal to Pollack with a flip pace in the center of the arc about 12 meters out.  RH scored the next two goals to move the game to 5-3.  The first was a slow break goal from Brill and the second was an 8 meter free position goal from Brill.  The Red Raiders added three more goals to finish the half and lead 8-3 at the break.  Howe scored two more (the latter assisted by Pollack) and Dera scored the third (assisted by Pollack).

There were only three goals in the second half with RH scoring two and Fairport scoring only one.  RH scored first with a drive from Gabby Garrett.  Three minutes later Konieczny scored off a feed from Pollack.  The final goal was scored by the Royal Comets with a free position goal form Mashewske with 11:58 remaining.  Isabel Hofford recorded 7 saves for the Red Raiders.

Fairport moves on the finals and will face top seeded Pittsford in the opening to the double header Boys`/Girls` Class A Finals on May 31st.
