Eastridge Fights Back in OT Win

- Eastridge scored the last seven goals of the game to defeat Livonia 10-9 in the first overtime period.  The Lancers trailed 9-3 with 19:47 remaining in regulation before slowly coming back into the game in the final twenty minutes.  The Bulldogs controlled the early part of the game both in score and in the pace of the contest before the Lancers started their scoring streak.

Livonia opened up the scoring with Lauren Connor scoring off a drive straight down the middle.  Connor, who finished with 5g-1a, scored her first goal 0:38 into play and quickly appeared to set the pace for the Bulldogs.  Eastridge scored their first goal eight minutes later with an inside feed to Makaila Greenhagen.  Livonia responded with two goal in the next minute.  The first was scored by Ashley Carr with a drive along the right side off the crease and the second was assisted by Carr with a cross-crease pass to Maddie Coons.  Coons scored off a quick stick on the far side with the goalie out of position.  The Bulldogs kept up their pressure with back to back goals from Connor.  They led 5-1 with 8:31 left in the first half.

Eastridge’s second goal was scored during man-down.  The Lancers had a yellow card as they cleared the ball upfield.  While play was still unsettled, Nichole Hetzer drove from the left pipe and beat her defenseman to the cage.  Livonia responded with two more goals, both scored on fast-breaks by Connor and Adrienne Weber.  The final two goals of the half were both scored from the 8m line with Wojnowski scoring for Eastridge and Connor scoring for Livonia.  The Bulldogs led 8-3 at the half.

Coming out of halftime, Livonia scored the opening goal.  Connor had a 8m set up and instead of shooting, she fed across the crease to Coons for the goal.  The final Livonia goal was scored with 19:47 left on the clock.  Eastridge started off the seven goal stretch with a fast-break off the technicial draw.  Gaudio scored unassisted.  Two minutes later, Greenhagen scored her second goal with a drive around the back of the cage.  Livonia held the four goal lead for the next 11 minutes.  With 6:57 remaining, Hetzer scored the first of two back to back goals with a drive from the top.  The second goal was a drive from behind the cage.  With 4:21 left in regulation, Eastridge pulled within a single goal.  Skye Gaudio pulled the ball out to the top of the arc and looked for an inside feed.  After holding for 5 seconds, she drove against her defenseman and scored straight down the middle.

Livonia held the one goal lead for another four minutes.  The game tying goal was scored with 0:29 left on the clock.  Hetzer came along the left side of the cage and drove to the center of the crease.  She finished into the back of the net and the game was tied for the first time since 1-1.  After winning multiple draws in a row, Eastridge finally lost a draw and Livonia took the ball upfield for one last attempt on offense.  They only got one shot off as time expired, but it was off-cage.  Coming into overtime, once again Livonia won the draw and had first attempt.  They failed to capitalize and Eastridge took the ball upfield with about 2 minutes left in the first overtime period.  Gaudio drove from the top and got a shooting space call.  She lined up on the 8m line and finished with a low shot to secure the 10-9 win.
