Penfield Defeats R-H in Class A Finals 2025-06-04 - Penfield, the number one seed, earned its first class A title since 2018 with a 16-9 win over No. 3 Rush-Henrietta at the University of Rochester on Wednesday. The Patriots broke the game open early when they outscored the Royal Comets 7-1 in the second quarter. It was their seventh consecutive victory.
Whitney Reynolds and Jenna Capozzi each had four goals and one assist to lead Penfield. Tournament MVP Avery Fordham added three goals and an assist. Peyton Rothfuss recorded two goals and an assist; she also won a game-high 12 draw controls. Karis Hand was solid in goal, making nine saves for a 50% save rate in 48 minutes of play.
For Rush-Henrietta, Kate DeWald had four goals and two assists; her second goal of the game was the 150th of her varsity career. She also won eight draw controls, including the 300th of her career. Riley Brown, Briea Schlindwein, Danielle Garrett, Isabella Artessa, and Emma DeWald each scored a goal for the Royal Comets, who conclude their season with a record of 12-6.
