# 707 2024 Season Wrap Up There were thirty teams playing Varsity Girls Lacrosse in Section V. There were 688 players on the final rosters. Brockport carried the largest roster with thirty-one players and Waterloo-Marcus Whitman had the smallest with fourteen. There were four classes for the sectional tournaments. Penfield (A), Canandaigua (B), and Mercy (C) and Penn Yan were the top seeded teams. Fairport beat Rush-Henrietta and the Pittsford for their championship. Second-seeded Victor beat Thomas and then Brighton before defeating top-seeded Victor for the Class B Championship. In Class C, Mercy beat Wayne and then HFL in a close game to claim their championship while in Class D, Penn Yan beat Marcus Whitman, Aquinas/WHOIS, and the Pal-Mac for their title. The teams were able to play a full season again in 2024. The first games were played on March 25th with Hilton, Spencerport and Schroeder winning their openers. The last regular season game was played on May 16th when Canandaigua defeated Churchville-Chili. The 262 regular season games were played and the 138 league games determined the league championships. At the end of the year, the Section V Head Coaches selected the post-season award winners including their All-League players. Then they selected five USA Lacrosse All-Americans and five All-Academics. Named All-Americans were Reagan Diehl (Pal-Mac), Ella Peers (Fairport), Devin Livingston (Victor), Hanna Davis (Canandaigua), and Molly Guzik (Spencerport). Named All-Academics were Alli Chimenti (Wayne), Katie Mallaber (Fairport), Alyssa Nichols (Spencerport), Angelia Oechsle (Rush-Henrietta), and Lucy Lederman (Brighton). Honeoye Falls-Lima Head Coach Kevin O`Connell was named Coach of the Year from Section V and the Jackie Pitts Award winner was Zoe Baase from Brockport. After the regular season, the Section V tournaments were conducted. Fairport (Class A), Victor (Class B), Mercy (Class C) and Penn Yan (Class D) were the Sectional Champions in 2024. The New York State Tournaments were back in full swing and sectional champions went on to play Section VI champions in the Western Regionals (quarter finals). In Class A, Fairport beat Lancaster (12-7) and then defeated Massapequa (Section VIII) 10-9-7, taking them to finals where they lost to Cicero-North Syracuse (Sect III) 12-8. In Class B, Victor beat Clarence (Section VI) with a score of 22-0. They then beat West Islip (Section X) 11-10 and defeated West Genesee (Section III) 16-8 to win their third Class B NYS Championship in a row. In Class C, Our Lady of Mercy won their game against Lake Shore of Section VI 17-8 but then lost to Sayville (Section XI) with a score of 13-8 in the semifinals. Penn Yan beat Gowanda (Section VI) 17-4 before losing to Cold Spring Harbor (Section VIII) 18-4 in the semifinals. At the end of the season at least sixty-four players who have made college commitments. They will become part of over three hundred players from Section V who are currently playing at all college levels.

# 706 2024 All League Awards [UPDATED] The annual All-League Awards have been posted and are available on the player pages as well as the awards page. The Finger Lakes League awarded first team awards to Reagan Diehl, Chelsea Korzeniewski, Anna Priebe, Jenna Santelli, Taryn Goodness, Sidney Clickner, Stella Del Papa, Lainie Forde, Colleen Ginsberg, Myah Herron, Madelyn Hillman, Teagan Hudak, Maci Mueller, Bailey Rossignol, Maddie Whitford, and Amelia Reese. The Attack Player of the Year was Chelseas Korzaneski from Mynderse-Romulus. The Defender Player of the Year was Taryn Goodness from Pal-Mac. The Midfield Player of the Year was Maci Muller from Waterloo who was also named Finger Lakes Player of the Year. The Head Coach of the Year was E.J. Burse (Pal-Mac). The USA Lacrosse All-Americans were Molly Guzik (Spencerport), Hanna Davis (Canandaigua), Devin Livingston (Victor), Ella Peers (Fairport) and Reagan Diehl (Pal-Mac. The All-Academics were Lucy Lederman (Brighton), Angelia Oechsle (Rush-Henrietta), Katie Mallaber (Fairport), and Allie Chimenti ((Wayne). The Monroe County League first team D-1 awards to Katie Mallaber, Madison Van Gorder, Lilly Mattucci, Jenna Capozzi, Peyton Rothfuss, Cecily Kaul, Dani Mooney, Angelia Oechsle, Catrina Rowe, Danielle Garrett, Kate Dewald, Abby Murphy, Allie Pisano, Julia Bruno, Maia Pronti, Ryann Savage, Lucy Ruller, and Mia Estelle. The D-1 Defensive Player of The Year was Devin Livingston (Victor). The D-1 Offensive Player of The Year was Ella Peers (Fairport) and the Coach of the Year was Dave York (Penfield). The Monroe County League awarded first team D-2 awards to Zoe Baase, Caroline Lyttle, Hanna Davis, Leah Sheridan, Nola Weaver, Campbell Hewlett, Paige Kidd, Shaye Angelo, Ali Baumgartner, Ella Brennan, Emma Francis, Alyssa Nichols, Brooke Endres, and Molly Meyer. The D-2 Defensive Player of The Year was Rose Heagney (Canandaigua). The D-2 Offensive Player of The Year was Molly Guzik (Spencerport) and the Coach of the Year was Kevin O`Connell (HFL) who was also selected as the Monroe County Coach of the Year. The Independent teams also selected awards in 2024. First teams awards went to Mia Lusardi, Krista Harnischfeger, Elinor Meyer, Marina Reddington, Emma Kravetz, Savannah Hinchcliffe, Brynn Henry, Kessa Sangasy, Ada Krupa, Jill Willis, Erica Savage, and Mara Misiurewicz. # 684 Schroeder Over Lancaster 9-8 PAL-MAC-9 at HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA-17 - With the win, HF-L remains undefeated in its last nine games against Pal-Mac dating back to 2009. Leading the scoring for HF-L were Shaye Angelo (3g/5a), Camryn Trybuskiewicz (2g/4a), and eighth-grader Harper Jacob (3g/2a). Two of the Cougars achieved career milestones in the game—Paige Kidd with her 200th draw control, and Shaye Angelo with her 100th draw control. For Pal-Mac (7-4), eighth-grader Brinn Castrechini had three goals, and Jenna Santelli and Teagan Hudak had two goals apiece. Both teams resume play on the road next week, with HF-L taking on Churchville-Chili Wednesday and Pal-Mac facing Newark-Midlakes Monday. [ BOX SCORE] QUEENSBURY-10 at RUSH-HENRIETTA-8 - In losing to undefeated Queensbury (II), Rush-Henrietta saw its record fall to 9-3. The Royal Comets were led by Riley Brown and Danielle Garrett, each of whom scored three goals, and Angelia Oechsle, who had eight saves. Ashlyn Roberts also scored the 50th goal of her varsity career. The Royal Comets host Corning (IV) on Monday.
