he Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2017 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team on Friday. The list features the top sixteen players and a number of honorable mentions were led by HFL senior Caitlin Muir who was named Player of the Year. She finished the season with 64g-30a.  She will continue to play next season at Michigan.

# 300  State Semi-Finals
our Section Five teams came into Friday Semi-Final matchups; but only two advanced to the Finals.  Pittsford defeated CBA 9-7 and HFL defeated Vestal 8-7 in overtime.  Canandaigua fell to Fayetteville-Manlius 17-11 and Pal-Mac fell to Skaneateles 10-7.  Both teams played a close first half before their opponents took over in the second half.

# 299  State Quarter Finals
ection Five swept Section Six in the State Quarter Finals.  Canandaigua defeated Hamburg 16-6, HFL defeated Lake Shore 16-12, Pal-Mac defeated East Aurora 17-0 and Pittsford defeated Frontier 15-1.  The Panthers and Red Raiders also won the Boys Western Regional Championships and both schools with have 2 teams in thate State Semi-Finals.

# 294  Finals Match-ups

The Sectional Finals will be played over the next two days. Class B and Class D will play first on Tuesday May 30th at Pittsford Sutherland. With Canandaigua vs. Thomas starting at 5:00 and Pal-Mac vs, Penn Yan starting at 7:00.  Class C and Class A will play second on Wednesday May 31st at Webster Schroeder.  With Mercy vs. HFL starting at 5:00 and Pittsford vs. Penfield starting at 7:00.

# 292  Semi-Final Match-ups
The Semi-Final matches will be played over the next two days.  In all four tournaments that top 4 seeds advanced to the semi-finals. Class B and Class D will play on May 26th at Pittsford Sutherland and Eastridge. Class A and Class C will play on May 27th at HFL and Schroeder.

After the first night of games, both #1 seeds were defeated by the #4 seeds.  Penn Yan avenged their earlier loss in the regular season with a 13-6 win over top seeded Waterloo and Thomas avenged their overtime loss to Brighton in the regular season with an 8-6 win.  The #2 seeds (Canandaigua and Pal-Mac) both advanced.  The Braves will face the Titans and the Red Raiders will face the Mustangs on Tuesday May 30th.

There were four games played today, with all four one sided victories.  The closest contest was Canandaigua over Irondequoit 13-5.  The remaining three games were Spencerport over Ath/Ody 18-1, HFL over Brockport 16-5 and Mercy over Clarence 15-6.

# 213  Muir Leads Cougars in Win
aitlin Muir was a strong offensive presence for HFL in their 17-10 win over previously undefeated Spencerport.  The Rangers and the Cougars had not played eachother in 10 years.  The Cougars won their last three contests in 2006 (2) and 2007.

ection III team South Jefferson travelled out to Honeoye Falls-Lima to face for the fourth time in the last four years.  South Jefferson won 9-5 over the Cougars.  The Spartans have won the last three years after dropping the first  game to HFL 9-6 in 2014.

# 152  One of Three Advance to Finals

Pittsford defeated West Islip (Section 11) 11-5 to secure their spot in the Class A State Finals.  The Panthers will face Christian Brothers Academy (Section 3) tomorrow at 9:30 AM.  If the Panther's succeed they will be the first Class A NYS Champion for Section Five.  Garden City (Section 8) defeated Victor 15-11 to move on and face Yorktown (Section 1) for the Class B Championship.  Mount Sinai (Section 11) defeated HFL 10-3 to move on to face Skaneateles (Section 3) for the Class C Championship.

The 2016 Sectional Tournament concluded with Pittsford (Class A), Victor (Class B) and HFL (Class C) as Champions.  This was the third straight win for the Panthers, the third straight win for the Blue Devils and the fifth straight win for the Cougars.

# 145  Muir Lifts Cougars to State Semis

Caitlin Muir finished with 5g-3a to help lift HFL to a 12-7 win over Lake Shore (Section Six).  Muir's 8 points means she was a part of 8/12 goals for the Cougars.  The Eagles came into the contest tonight previously undefeated at 18-0.  Although the game was closest of the night, HFL scored the first four goals and the Eagles never game closer than two goals.

even games were reported tonight.  The closest was a two goal win for HFL over Irondequoit 9-7.  Penfield defeated Thomas 8-5, Canandaigua defeated Churchville-Chili 8-4 and Fairport defeated Schroeder 15-10.  In more one sided contests, Hilton defeated Ath/Ody 19-8, Pittsford defeated RH 16-6 and Spencerport defeated Brockport 14-3.

Tonight was a big night of games with 11 games being played in Section Five.  The closest match-ups were the two overtime games with Fairport defeating Irondequoit 13-12 and HFL defeating Penfield 11-10.  Rounding out the games were Penn Yan over Whitman 15-10, Schroeder over Brockport 17-6, Mynderse over Gananda 11-4, Geneva over Midlakes 16-4, Pal-Mac over Newark 16-3, Arc/Oly over Livonia 11-7, Waterloo over Mercy 11-4 and Wayne over East Rochester 8-2.

# 106  Rush Henrietta Wins 5th Straight

Rush Henrietta led 7-1 on their way to a 10-5 win over Honeoye Falls-Lima.  The Royal Comets have won their last five games (Penfield, Thomas, Schroeder) and improved their record to 8-4 (back in April they were 3-4).  The Cougars, who were just off a 12-9 win over Victor, only scored two goals in the first half.

# 91  Schroeder Holds On for First Win Ever Over HFL
ebster Schroeder defeated HFL for the first time in their history 16-15.  The Warriors took an early lead in the first half and held off the late advances by the Cougars.  Schroeder scored seven out of eight goals in a six minute span early in the first half.

fter a relatively close opening half, Honeoye Falls-Lima scored five unanswered goals to take control of the game over Canandaigua.  Although the Braves never gave up, HFL won 11-7.  The Cougars held a three goal lead for the entire second half; every time the Braves attempted a comeback the Cougars scored to keep strong control.

ierin Ratliff scored the game winning goal in overtime to lift HFL over Webster Thomas 6-5.  The Cougars have won their last two games in overtime after and 11-10 win over PENFIELD.

With nine games being played, tonight was the biggest night of the season.  The closest contest was HFL over Penfield 11-10 in overtime.  Another close game was Canandaigua over R-H 8-5.  There were also a number of one sided contests with Hilton defeated Eastridge 22-0, Spencerport over Arc/Oly 22-4 and Brockport 13-2 over Ath/Ody.

# 40  Ratliff's Four Goals Lift HF-L to Victory
Kierin Ratliff scored 4 goals to lift HF-L to a 9-8 victory over Churchville-Chili.  The game was evenly matched with the game tying at all but 8-8.  The lead changed 6 times with both teams leading for significant parts of the game.  The pace of the game changed in the second half with HF-L scoring three goals in a row (the only time either team scored more than two in a row) to take and keep the lead.

# 18  2015 All-Greater Rochester
The 2015 All Greater Rochester list was published at the end of the season and Webster Thomas senior Emily Resnick was named the 2015 Player of the Year by the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.  All told, sixteen players were noted on the list.  Leading the charge were players from Churchville Chili, Victor, Pittsford and Irondequoit with two players each.
