# 152  One of Three Advance to Finals

Pittsford defeated West Islip (Section 11) 11-5 to secure their spot in the Class A State Finals.  The Panthers will face Christian Brothers Academy (Section 3) tomorrow at 9:30 AM.  If the Panther's succeed they will be the first Class A NYS Champion for Section Five.  Garden City (Section 8) defeated Victor 15-11 to move on and face Yorktown (Section 1) for the Class B Championship.  Mount Sinai (Section 11) defeated HFL 10-3 to move on to face Skaneateles (Section 3) for the Class C Championship.

# 150  Sectionals Recap
The 2016 Sectional Tournament concluded with Pittsford (Class A), Victor (Class B) and HFL (Class C) as Champions.  This was the third straight win for the Panthers, the third straight win for the Blue Devils and the fifth straight win for the Cougars.

# 149  2016 Herb Fitch Senior All Star Game
he Rochester Chapter of USLacrosse has announced the 2016 Herb Fitch Lacrosse All Star Game player selections. This year's contest, featuring some of the best of the graduating seniors will be held on Friday, June 17th at Victor High School. The girls' game will start at 5:00 PM before the boys' play at 7:00 PM.

Tickets for the Senior All Star Games will be $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students. Concessions will be available.

All players need to visit the Registration Page and indicate if they are planning to play or not. Other information is available on that page. Registration is complete.

# 148  Monroe County End of Season Awards

Monroe County End of Season Awards have 50 First and 50 Second Team All County Players.  In addition there were 4 All Americans and 4 Academic All Americans.  As well as Defensive Players of the Year, a Midfielder of the Year and an Offensive Player of the Year.

# 146  Victor defeats Hamburg to Head to State Semis

Victor scored the opening goal and never trailed in their 23-9 win over Hamburg.  The Bulldogs finished their season at 12-8.  Victor was led in scoring by Emily Hawryschuk (7g-3a), Kaci Messier (6g-3a) and Bridget Flynn (5g-1a).  The three girls combined for 18 of the 23 goals.  One major key to their success came at the draw.  The Blue Devils combined for 24/32 draws.  Claire Herrmann finished with 5 of the 8 draws for the Bulldogs.  She also added 2g-2a.  The big scorer for the Bulldogs was Rebecca Izzo with 4g-1a.

t the conclusion of the Class B Tournament.  Section Five announced the first ever All Tournament Team.  The Team consists of the top 13 players in the Class B Tournament this year.  There are 12 regular spots and an MVP spot.

# 139  Finals Match-ups

The final two days of Section Five lacrosse are upon us with the Sectional Titles being decided over the next two days.  The Class A Finals will be #1 seeded Pittsford vs. #2 seeded Fairport.  The Class B Finals will be #1 seeded Spencerport vs. #2 seeded Victor.  The Class C Finals will be #1 seeded Pal-Mac vs. #2 seeded HFL.  Class A Finals will be played on May 31st at St. John Fisher College in a Boys/Girls double header.  Class B and Class C Finals will be played on June 1st at Pittsford Sutherland.

Quarter final match-ups will be played over the next two days.  At this point, Class B and Class C are both full brackets with 8 teams remaining in each.  Class A starts their tournament on Monday with two games to decide who will face the #1 and #2 seeds.

# 119  Biggest Game Night Left This Season

With the final week of the regular season upon us, tonight was the biggest night of games left in the season.  The closest game tonight was Corning over Penn Yan 12-11 in overtime and Waterloo over Geneva 8-7 in overtime.  Other close games included, Brockport over Hilton 8-7, Irondequoit over Canandaigua 8-7 and Brighton over HFL 6-5.  Additional games were Churchville-Chili over Victor 11-7, Pittsford over Thomas 18-8, Fairport over Penfield 12-8, Arc/Oly over Gates Chili 15-6, Gananda over East Rochester 9-5, Wayne over Newark 12-7, Spencerport over Eastridge 19-2 and RH over Mercy 16-4.

# 108  Statistical Overview Following Week 7
s we approach the final weeks of the season, it seemed appropriate to write an article about statistics in Section Five.  When GLaxFive launched, we chose not to include a leader board, but as the season has progressed it is a decision that we re-visited.  For this season, we hope to publish a few articles that can fill that gap.

Kaci Messier and Emily Hawryschuk were major factors in the Victor comeback against Webster Thomas.  Victor outscored Thomas 7-3 in the second half and didn't take the lead until seven minutes into the second half.

onight had some of the closest games of the season.  With two 1-goal games, a 2-goal game, a 4-goal game, two 5-goal games and one single sided contest.  R-H defeated Thomas 9-8, Victor defeated Irondequoit 9-8, Penfield defeated Schroeder 8-6, HFL defeated Canandaigua 11-7, Brockport defeated Greece Oly/Arc 5-0, Pittsford defeated Fairport 13-7 and Spencerport defeated Hilton 20-2.

# 53  Biggest Game Night of the Season

With nine games being played, tonight was the biggest night of the season.  The closest contest was HFL over Penfield 11-10 in overtime.  Another close game was Canandaigua over R-H 8-5.  There were also a number of one sided contests with Hilton defeated Eastridge 22-0, Spencerport over Arc/Oly 22-4 and Brockport 13-2 over Ath/Ody.

# 51  Hawryschuk Scores 7 in Victor Win
ictor scored the opening goal of their 14-5 win over Fairport and never trailed.  Bridget Flynn scored the first goal at 19:21 remaining in the first half with a fast-break goal.  She went on to score 1g-3a for the Blue Devils.  Fairport kept the game close for the first 15 minutes.  One minute after Flynn's goal, Megan Koniecnzy scored with a cross-crease pass from Maddie Howe to tie the game at 1-1.  Howe was a force for the Red Raiders with 2g-1a (to lead her team) and 6 draw controls (to lead her team).

# 45  Miller's Six Goals Lifts Pittsford
addie Miller was apart of seven out of nine goals in the 9-4 Pittsford win over Victor.  The Panther's started off strong with a Miller scoring four unanswered goals to start the game.  Victor added a single goal before the completion of the first half.

em>Updated: Today saw four teams playing out of Section competition.  Georgetown Visitation defeated Brighton 14-4. Saints Stephen`s and Agnes defeated Victor 19-6 and Guilderland defeated Canandaigua 7-6.

# 2  Rochester D&C Lists Top Players for 2012
The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2013 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team today. The list features the top sixteen players and another sixty-five honorable mentions were led by Penfield senior midfielder, Sheila Nesselbush who was named "Player of the Year". Nesselbush, who was also named Monroe County Division I Player of the Year, scored 62 goals this year. The USLacrosse All-American has accepted a partial scholarship to study and play at Northwestern next year.
