he Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2017 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team on Friday. The list features the top sixteen players and a number of honorable mentions were led by HFL senior Caitlin Muir who was named Player of the Year. She finished the season with 64g-30a.  She will continue to play next season at Michigan.

# 291  Wayne Wins First Sectional Game in Program History
ayne scored four of the last five goals to pull away and defeat Newark 9-4.  This was the first Sectional win in program history for the Eagles.  The game was close for most of the first half, before the Eagles began to pull away.  As the second half continued, Newark could not close the gap and Wayne slowly expanded their lead.

welve more games were played on the penultimate day of the regular season.  The closest match was Brighton over Spencerport 8-6.  Additional scores included, Canandaigua over Churchville-Chili 15-5, Mynderse over Gates Chili 15-3, Newark over East Rochester 9-5, RH over Hilton 15-5, Schroeder over Brockport 13-8, Pittsford over Irondequoit 13-1,  Waterloo over Geneva 20-8,  Penn Yan over Wayne 19-10, Fairport over Mercy 17-11, Thomas over HFL 11-8.  Penfield vs. Skaneateles was not reported; however social media reports Skaneateles over Penfield 11-5.

# 259  Waterloo Scores Seven Straight to Start Second Half
ayne hosted their fifth annual “Cradle for a Cure” event today. Waterloo defeated the Eagles 17-9.  The “Cradle for a Cure” event began five years ago as a fundraising/awareness event after a local lacrosse player received a cancer diagnosis.  Every year since, Wayne has hosted a multigame event with boys and girls lax with the hope of donating to both local charities and a local family in need of assistance.  After this game, the Boys hosted Gananda and defeated the Panthers 23-5 (HERE).

here were 11 match-ups tonight to end the Week.  Two previously undefeated teams lost their first game tonight: Penn Yan defeated Aquinas 5-3 and Churchville-Chili defeated Lake Shore 14-8.  Brighton defeated RH 8-6 to remaining the only undefeated team (8-0) in Section Five.  Geneva defeated Gananda 7-5, Canandaigua defeated Hamburg 14-0, Mercy defeated Amherst 15-5, Waterloo defeated Mt. fter falling to 0-4 to start the season, Geneva has won the last three.  Much like their first win over Livonia (HERE), the Panthers fought back from a deficit to secure the one goal win.  Geneva defeated Wayne 9-8 after trailing for a large portion of the second half.

ary Panepento was the driving force for Wayne behind their 14-11 win over Gates Chili.  She finished with 6g-1a including the final go ahead goal late in the second half.  The Screaming Eagles took an early led to 3-1 before Gates Chili fought back to a 4-4 tie in the first half.  Panepento scored again off a free position goal to take a 5-4 lead before the Spartans scored back to back to take their first and only lead of the game.  Wayne scored the next three to go back and top.

In the closest games of the night, Marcus Whitman defeated Mynderse 11-8 and East Rochester defeated Newark 6-1.  Other winners were Schroeder over Livonia 20-4, Pal-Mac over Gananda 16-2, Penn Yan defeated Geneva 16-7, Waterloo defeated Wayne 15-5 and Canandaigua defeated Mercy 15-5.

# 100  Ten Different Red Raiders Score
al-Mac defeated Wayne 14-6 with ten different Red Raiders scoring at least one goal and twelve making the offensive scorebook.  Leading the charge was junior attackman Anna Leva with 3g-2a.  Leva lead Pal-Mac is both assists and points with 19g-31a (Pal-Mac Season Totals).  The Eagles were led by junior midfielder Mary Panepento with 3g-1a.  In addition to their offensive leader, goalie Rachel Haywood finished the game with 9 saves and played a strong game between the pipes at 50% over 44 minutes.

Mary Panepento scored her fifth goal of the night with 1:30 remaining in overtime to give Wayne the 14-13 win over Greece Athena/Odyssey.  This was the third overtime game of the season for the Eagles and their first win (vs. Gananda and vs. Marcus Whitman). In a game that was back and forth throughout, neither team led by more than three.

In a game that was back and forth for its entirety, Mynderse scored five of the last six goals to defeat Wayne 8-6.  By the end of the game the lead had changed four times.  Sarah Shaffer finished with 3 goals for the Blue Devils.

Cameron James scored her third goal of the night with 1:18 remaining in the first overtime period to give Marcus Whitman the 9-8 win over Wayne.  This is the second time the Eagles have lost in overtime this season.  The game was back and forth with three lead changes.  The Wildcats fought back from a three goal deficit in the second half to take the lead and force Wayne to send the game into overtime.

# 66  Ginsberg Scores In Overtime to Lift Gananda

Jenna Ginsberg scored with 2:25 remaining in overtime to give Gananda their second overtime win of the season.  Previous, Jordan Cunningham scored in overtime to give the Blue Panthers the win over East Rochester.  The games were extremely similar with Gananda taking an early lead that their opponents fought back from to force overtime before winning in sudden victory.  Gananda in 3-2 on the season.

oday saw multiple close games with Mercy defeating Brockport 5-3, Waterloo defeating Geneva 7-5 and Livonia defeating Wayne 12-9.  There were also a number of one sided contests with Penn Yan defeating Gananda 11-3, Marcus Whitman defeating Newark 13-1 and Spencerport defeated Gates-Chili 19-3.  Pal-Mac also defeated Aquinas 15-9.
