# 707 2024 Season Wrap Up There were thirty teams playing Varsity Girls Lacrosse in Section V. There were 688 players on the final rosters. Brockport carried the largest roster with thirty-one players and Waterloo-Marcus Whitman had the smallest with fourteen. There were four classes for the sectional tournaments. Penfield (A), Canandaigua (B), and Mercy (C) and Penn Yan were the top seeded teams. Fairport beat Rush-Henrietta and the Pittsford for their championship. Second-seeded Victor beat Thomas and then Brighton before defeating top-seeded Victor for the Class B Championship. In Class C, Mercy beat Wayne and then HFL in a close game to claim their championship while in Class D, Penn Yan beat Marcus Whitman, Aquinas/WHOIS, and the Pal-Mac for their title. The teams were able to play a full season again in 2024. The first games were played on March 25th with Hilton, Spencerport and Schroeder winning their openers. The last regular season game was played on May 16th when Canandaigua defeated Churchville-Chili. The 262 regular season games were played and the 138 league games determined the league championships. At the end of the year, the Section V Head Coaches selected the post-season award winners including their All-League players. Then they selected five USA Lacrosse All-Americans and five All-Academics. Named All-Americans were Reagan Diehl (Pal-Mac), Ella Peers (Fairport), Devin Livingston (Victor), Hanna Davis (Canandaigua), and Molly Guzik (Spencerport). Named All-Academics were Alli Chimenti (Wayne), Katie Mallaber (Fairport), Alyssa Nichols (Spencerport), Angelia Oechsle (Rush-Henrietta), and Lucy Lederman (Brighton). Honeoye Falls-Lima Head Coach Kevin O`Connell was named Coach of the Year from Section V and the Jackie Pitts Award winner was Zoe Baase from Brockport. After the regular season, the Section V tournaments were conducted. Fairport (Class A), Victor (Class B), Mercy (Class C) and Penn Yan (Class D) were the Sectional Champions in 2024. The New York State Tournaments were back in full swing and sectional champions went on to play Section VI champions in the Western Regionals (quarter finals). In Class A, Fairport beat Lancaster (12-7) and then defeated Massapequa (Section VIII) 10-9-7, taking them to finals where they lost to Cicero-North Syracuse (Sect III) 12-8. In Class B, Victor beat Clarence (Section VI) with a score of 22-0. They then beat West Islip (Section X) 11-10 and defeated West Genesee (Section III) 16-8 to win their third Class B NYS Championship in a row. In Class C, Our Lady of Mercy won their game against Lake Shore of Section VI 17-8 but then lost to Sayville (Section XI) with a score of 13-8 in the semifinals. Penn Yan beat Gowanda (Section VI) 17-4 before losing to Cold Spring Harbor (Section VIII) 18-4 in the semifinals. At the end of the season at least sixty-four players who have made college commitments. They will become part of over three hundred players from Section V who are currently playing at all college levels.

# 706 2024 All League Awards [UPDATED] The annual All-League Awards have been posted and are available on the player pages as well as the awards page. The Finger Lakes League awarded first team awards to Reagan Diehl, Chelsea Korzeniewski, Anna Priebe, Jenna Santelli, Taryn Goodness, Sidney Clickner, Stella Del Papa, Lainie Forde, Colleen Ginsberg, Myah Herron, Madelyn Hillman, Teagan Hudak, Maci Mueller, Bailey Rossignol, Maddie Whitford, and Amelia Reese. The Attack Player of the Year was Chelseas Korzaneski from Mynderse-Romulus. The Defender Player of the Year was Taryn Goodness from Pal-Mac. The Midfield Player of the Year was Maci Muller from Waterloo who was also named Finger Lakes Player of the Year. The Head Coach of the Year was E.J. Burse (Pal-Mac). The USA Lacrosse All-Americans were Molly Guzik (Spencerport), Hanna Davis (Canandaigua), Devin Livingston (Victor), Ella Peers (Fairport) and Reagan Diehl (Pal-Mac. The All-Academics were Lucy Lederman (Brighton), Angelia Oechsle (Rush-Henrietta), Katie Mallaber (Fairport), and Allie Chimenti ((Wayne). The Monroe County League first team D-1 awards to Katie Mallaber, Madison Van Gorder, Lilly Mattucci, Jenna Capozzi, Peyton Rothfuss, Cecily Kaul, Dani Mooney, Angelia Oechsle, Catrina Rowe, Danielle Garrett, Kate Dewald, Abby Murphy, Allie Pisano, Julia Bruno, Maia Pronti, Ryann Savage, Lucy Ruller, and Mia Estelle. The D-1 Defensive Player of The Year was Devin Livingston (Victor). The D-1 Offensive Player of The Year was Ella Peers (Fairport) and the Coach of the Year was Dave York (Penfield). The Monroe County League awarded first team D-2 awards to Zoe Baase, Caroline Lyttle, Hanna Davis, Leah Sheridan, Nola Weaver, Campbell Hewlett, Paige Kidd, Shaye Angelo, Ali Baumgartner, Ella Brennan, Emma Francis, Alyssa Nichols, Brooke Endres, and Molly Meyer. The D-2 Defensive Player of The Year was Rose Heagney (Canandaigua). The D-2 Offensive Player of The Year was Molly Guzik (Spencerport) and the Coach of the Year was Kevin O`Connell (HFL) who was also selected as the Monroe County Coach of the Year. The Independent teams also selected awards in 2024. # 699 Canandaigua and Victor win Close 7-6 Games EASTRIDGE/BK-8 at HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA-20 - Eight different players scored goals for Honeoye Falls-Lima (9-9) including sophomore attacker Shaye Angelo (4g-2a), senior attacker Camryn Trybuskiewicz (3g-3a), junior midfielder Rylee Bennett (5g), and sophomore defender Anna DeClerck (2g). Cougar senior goalie Lily Brady recorded 5s/4ga = 56% (36 mins). There was no report from Eastridge/BK (11-6) at post-time. HFL will play Mercy on Wednesday for the Class C Championship. [ BOX SCORE] BRIGHTON-6 at VICTOR-7 - The closely matched teams tied numerous times, scoring two goals each in the first and second quarters. Victor took a one goal lead after three quarters but Brighton tied it up again in the last stanza. Libby Boland scored her lone goal with fifty-three second left in regulation to send the Blue Devils to the Championship game against Canandaigua on Wednesday. Leading the scoring for Victor (15-3) were Devin Livingston (3g), Maia Pronti (1a), Allie Pisano (1a), Morgan Livingston (1g), Camryn Adrid (1g), and Libby Boland (1g). In the goal for Victor was senior Maggie Allen with 6s/4ga = 60% (48 mins). Scoring for Brighton (9-9) were Riley Lawrence (2g), Lucy Lederman (3g), Ireland Mistretta (1g), and Alexandra Madison (2a). Scoring for the Rangers were Molly Guzik (2g), Brooke Endres (3g), and Aria Pittman (1g). Guzik ends her scholastic career with 166g-124a in five years on the Varsity. She will move on to Syracuse University in the fall. There was no report from Canandaigua (16-2) at post-time but the Grey Wolves will play Victor for the Class B Championship on Wednesday. # 697 All Quarters : Top Seeds Move on CHURCHVILLE-CHILI-4 at CANANDAIGUA-17 - For the second game in a row, the Canandaigua Grey Wolves faced Churchville-Chili, with a very similar result. Canandaigua will host Spencerport on Thursday for the right to advance to the Class B Final after beating Churchville-Chili 17-4 in quarterfinal action. Senior Hanna Davis (4g, 5a) had a big night, finishing with 9 points, while Sophomore Lola Schorr (3g, 1a) also put in a strong showing, adding 4 Caused Turnovers and 2 Draw Controls to her offensive production. Canandaigua had 10 different point-scorers on the evening. Canandaigua beat Spencerport 9-6 in a tough match-up on Braves Field earlier this season. [ BOX SCORE] NEWARK-MIDLAKES-0 at HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA-17 - HFL knocked Newark-Midlakes out of Sectional play, blanking the Screaming Eagles 17-0. Sophomore Shane Angelo (3g, 3a) led the Cougars with 6 points, Camryn Trybuskiewicz (2g, 2a) added 4 points as the HFL notched 11 different point scorers in the contest. HFL advances to play Eastridge/BK on Thursday in Waterloo as one half of the Class C Semi’s. [ BOX SCORE] THOMAS-7 at VICTOR-15 - In class B quarter-final play, The Victor Blue Devils defeated Webster-Thomas 15-7. Allie Psiano (5g, 3a) and Devin Livingston (7g) led the way for Victor, while Webster-Thomas` season was ended despite the return of Addison Schaefer (3g) who was able to score a Hat Trick in Webster`s effort to pull off the upset. Livingston also corralled 12 Draw Controls for the Blue Devils. Victor will face Brighton in Victor on Thursday for chance to play in the Class B Sectional Final. Victor defeated Brighton 5-4 in overtime in their regular season match-up. [ BOX SCORE] GENEVA-4 at EASTRIDGE/BK-19 - Eastridge/BK advanced to the Class C Semi-Final in convincing fashion with a 19-4 win over Geneva tonight. Kayla Gerson (4g, 4a) was the top point-scorer for Eastridge/BK, while Jillian Willis (4g, 1a) and Ada Krupa (4g, 1a) each added 5 point nights. Krupa and Willis also combined for 11 Draw Controls in the contest. Meghan Forbes (2g, 2a) was the high scorer for Geneva, and Goalie Maddie Akin made 13 Saves. [ BOX SCORE] SPENCERPORT-11 at IRONDEQUOIT-10 - In the closest game of the evening, Spencerport edged out Irondequoit 11-10, earning the right to travel to Canandaigua on Thursday and face the Grey Wolves in the Class B Semi-Final. Spencerport carried a 6-5 lead into halftime, extended the lead to 2 goals in the third quarter and withstood a strong 4th quarter effort from the Eagles to hang on for the victory. Molly Guzik (3g, 3a) was the top scorer for Spencerport, also adding 6 Draw Controls, who, Alyssa Nichols (3g) also logged a Hat trick in the winning effort. For Irondequoit, Ella Brennan (2g, 1a) and Lucy Whipple (2g,1a) each logged 3 point nights as the Eagles season comes to a close. Molly Meyer (1g), Makenna Baier (1g), Brook Guellli (1g, 1a) were the Goal Scorers for Webster-Schroeder, and Goalie, Maura Ugine made 10 Saves between the pipes. Spencerport carried a slim 5-4 lead into the half but pulled away in the final two frames to double up the Cougars by games end.
