All Greater Rochester 2017
The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2017 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team on Friday. The list features the top sixteen players and a number of honorable mentions were led by HFL senior Caitlin Muir who was named Player of the Year. She finished the season with 64g-30a. She will continue to play next season at Michigan.

In addition, there were 2 All Americans and 2 Academic All Americans. As well as Defense Player of the Year, a Midfield Player of the Year and an Attack Player of the Year.

Wayne scored four of the last five goals to pull away and defeat Newark 9-4. This was the first Sectional win in program history for the Eagles. The game was close for most of the first half, before the Eagles began to pull away. As the second half continued, Newark could not close the gap and Wayne slowly expanded their lead.

Brighton defeated RH 8-6 to remaining the only undefeated team (8-0) in Section Five. Geneva defeated Gananda 7-5, Canandaigua defeated Hamburg 14-0, Mercy defeated Amherst 15-5, Waterloo defeated Mt. Mercy 14-2, Livonia defeated Wayne 9-8, Irondequoit defeated Victor 10-7, Newark defeated Midlakes 9-5 and Thomas defeated Schroeder 12-6.

Spencerport also defeated Victor 13-12, Thomas over RH 9-8 and Churchville Chili over Hilton 11-9. In addition, Penfield defeated Schroeder 11-6, Brighton defeated Baldwinsville 10-5, Livonia defeated Newark 9-6 and Gananda defeated Wayne 5-1.

Tonight was a big night of games with 11 games being played in Section Five. The closest match-ups were the two overtime games with Fairport defeating Irondequoit 13-12 and HFL defeating Penfield 11-10. Rounding out the games were Penn Yan over Whitman 15-10, Schroeder over Brockport 17-6, Mynderse over Gananda 11-4, Geneva over Midlakes 16-4, Pal-Mac over Newark 16-3, Arc/Oly over Livonia 11-7, Waterloo over Mercy 11-4 and Wayne over East Rochester 8-2.
Three Close Games Including a Double Overtime
Starting off the fourth week, there were three close games today. Gananda defeated East Rochester 6-5 in double overtime. Geneva defeated Mynderse 10-8 and Wayne defeated Gates-Chili 10-7. In more one-sided contests, Penn Yan defeated Midlakes 16-6 and Waterloo defeated Newark 14-3.
