Wayne put together a strong performance in a Finger Lakes game on Monday night, earning a 14-9 victory over Mynderse-Romulus. Although the Blue Devils were able to narrow a seven-goal halftime deficit to two goals after three quarters, they were ultimately unable to overtake the Eagles.
Isabella Veltre led the Eagles with seven goals and three assists; among her seven goals was the 100th of her varsity career. Anabelle Ruffell and Addie McGurk added two goals apiece. Sophomore Sarah Lockwood scored her first varsity goal for Wayne. Madelyn Hillman, Julia DiLeo, and Lauren Twist combined for 17 draw controls.
Myah Herron led Mynderse-Romulus with six goals and one assist, while Chelsea Korzeniewski recorded one goal and two assists. Macey Seneca added two goals for the Blue Devils.
Wayne improves to 7-4 with the win, while Mynderse-Romulus falls to 1-7. The Eagles will face Waterloo on Wednesday at home, while the Blue Devils are set to take on Livonia-Avon-Geneseo the same evening. [ Story and BOX SCORE]
