Eleven Matches to End the Week

There were 11 match-ups tonight to end the Week.  Two previously undefeated teams lost their first game tonight: Penn Yan defeated Aquinas 5-3 and Churchville-Chili defeated Lake Shore 14-8.  Brighton defeated RH 8-6 to remaining the only undefeated team (8-0) in Section Five.  Geneva defeated Gananda 7-5, Canandaigua defeated Hamburg 14-0, Mercy defeated Amherst 15-5, Waterloo defeated Mt. Mercy 14-2, Livonia defeated Wayne 9-8, Irondequoit defeated Victor 10-7, Newark defeated Midlakes 9-5 and Thomas defeated Schroeder 12-6.

In the battle of the Webster High Schools, Thomas defeated Schroeder 12-6.  A story was submitted HERE.

Geneva continued their winning streak with their 5th straight win.  The Panthers defeated Gananda 7-5.  Geneva led 6-1 at the half before Gananda attempted to fight back and force overtime.  Jordan Cunningham and Jenna Ginsberg each recorded 2g.  Melissa Camp led in draw controls with 4 and Ginsberg led in groundballs (9) and caused turnovers (4).  For Geneva, Emily Kerr led with 1g-3a.  Lily Sellers finished with 3 draw controls and 4 groundballs.  Lauren DeVaney added another six groundballs.  Additional stats are HERE.

Penn Yan handed Aquinas their first defeat of the season 5-3.  The Mustangs won each half by a single goal.  Elissa Callaway (2g) and Brenna Voigt (2a) led in scoring for the Mustangs.  Sydney Bloom recorded 5 draw controls in the win.  Additional stats are HERE.

Livonia fought back for a four goal deficit to defeat Wanye 9-8.  The Bulldogs scored the final two goals in the last four minutes to take the lead.  Ellen O'Neil scored the tying goal with 3:46 remaining and Addyson Gammon scored the game winner with 0:50 on the clock.  Wayne's Mary Panepento led with 4g-3a.  She also led in draw controls (5) and groundballs (3).  Additional stats are HERE.

After a close first half, Newark pulled away and defeated Midlakes 9-5.  Katie Thoms (2g-2a) led in scoring for the Reds.  Claire DeBoover (2g) and Alaina Forbes (1g-1a) led for Midlakes.  Additional stats are HERE.

Brighton trailed 6-2 after the first half before holding the Royal Comets scoreless in the second half to win 8-6.  Kathryn Smolensky led in scoring with 1g-2a.  Piper Davis and Rene Gangarosa each recorded 3 draw controls.  Additional stats are HERE.

Irondequoit took the lead in the first half and kept it to defeat Victor 10-7.  Victor's Kaci Messier led in scoring with 5g-1a.  She also had 4 caused turnovers and 4 ground balls.  Additional stats are HERE.

Waterloo defeated Mt. St. Mercy 14-2.  Emily Smith led in scoring with 3g-3a.  Allie Smith recorded a team leading 5 draw controls.  Additional stats are HERE.

Mercy defeated Amherst 15-5 to increase to 5-4 on the season.  Sami Carey (3g-3a) led in scoring.  Izzy Stockman, Kristyn Johnson and Caroline Murphy each recorded three draw controls for the Monarchs.  Additional stats are HERE.

Canandaigua travelled to Hamburg and defeated the Bulldogs 14-0.  Lindsay Reho (1g-3a) and Peyton Smith (3g-1a) led in offensive scoring.  Clancy Rheude finished with a team leading 4 draw controls.  Defenseman Maddie Groff recorded nine groundballs.  Additional stats are HERE.
