Four Section Five teams came into Friday Semi-Final matchups; but only two advanced to the Finals.  Pittsford defeated CBA 9-7 and HFL defeated Vestal 8-7 in overtime.  Canandaigua fell to Fayetteville-Manlius 17-11 and Pal-Mac fell to Skaneateles 10-7.  Both teams played a close first half before their opponents took over in the second half.

The scoring tables for three of the four matchups were put together using various twitter accounts.  The individual stats will be entered by the teams and will be updated on the game pages.  The scoring table was updated independent of the coaching/reporter staff.  The scoring table for Canandaigua vs. Fayetteville-Manlius was too incomplete to publish.  When the time of the goal was unavailable in the scoring table, the time was entered as 0:01 later than the previous goal.

Canandaigua vs. Fayetteville-Manlius:

The Class B match-up was played first at 9:00 AM.  FM scored the first two goals of the game to go up earlier.  Kiera Shanley scored the first of her 8 goals off a free position shot.  The first three goals for the Hornets were all scored off free position shots.  Anne Steigerwald scored the first of her 3 goals a short time later.  The first goal for the Braves was scored by LaRen Blakesley with an assist from Megan Hoffman.  The Hornets extended their lead to 6-2 before Canandaigua pushed back.  The Braves continued to score going into halftime and tied the game at 8-8 off a free position goal from Emma O'Neill.  Kiera Shanley scored her fifth to put FM back up 9-8 at the half.

In the second half, the Braves tied the game at 9-9, 10-10 and 11-11 before FM scored the final six goals to secure the win.  Shanley and Steigerwald were the driving forces for the Hornets.  Additional stats will be updated when entered by Coaching staff HERE.

Honeoye Falls-Lima vs. Vestal:

Vestal dominated the early game before HFL fought back to force overtime and eventually the game winner.  Caitlin Muir was a part of 7 of 8 goals.  She was instrumental in moving the Cougars on to the Finals.  However, after the game she spoke of teamwork and the team mentality.  She attributed the success to a "team effort" and talked about her teammates opening up opportunities for her to score.

Vestal was led in scoring by Sarah Harding and Amanda Fedor with 3g each. For the Cougars, Muir scoring the game winning goal with 2:33 remaining in the first overtime period.  She drove from behind the cage along the left side and finished with a shot on the crease.  She took a similar shot to end regulation, but the shot was saved by the Vestal goalie.   Additional stats will be updated when entered by Coaching staff HERE.

HFL continues on to the Final where they will face two time defending Champions Mt. Sinai at 11:30 tomorrow morning.  The Cougars have faced Mt. Sinai three times since 2005 with Mt. Sinai winning each time.  In their last match-up, Mt. Sinai won 10-3 in last year's State Semis.

Pal-Mac vs. Skaneateles:

After a 4-4 halftime score, Skaneateles scored the first four goals coming out of halftime to lead 8-4 with 18;43 remaining.  The Red Raiders could not fight back and fell 10-7 to the Lakers.  One of the key factor's to Pal-Mac's first quarter success was goalie Sophia Leva.  According to on-scene reporters she recorded 8 saves in the first half and was instrumental in keeping the Laker score down.

Kyla Sears led the Lakers in scoring with 5g-1a.  She scored two of the first four goals of the second half. Additional stats will be updated when entered by Coaching staff HERE.

Pittsford vs. CBA:

After trailing 4-2, Pittsford scored four unanswered goals to take the lead; they never gave it back and defeated CBA 9-7.  The Panther's game plan in the second half was control.  The led 7-5 going into the second half and took that lead seriously.  The held control of the ball for large chunks of time and did not allow the Brothers attempts at offense.  They held them to only two goals in the second half, including the final goal of the game with 1:14 remaining on the clock.

Last season was the first time that Pittsford had faced CBA since 2005 and they lost to the Brothers in the Finals 11-6.  Free position goals were the name of the game for Pittsford as at least 4 of their goals were scored off the 8m line.  Both second half goals were scored off the line with Elizabeth Blanding and Jillie Quevedo scoring for the Panthers. Additional stats will be updated when entered by Coaching staff HERE.

Pittsford continues on the Finals were they will face Middle Country.  The Wolverines are 16-3 with losses to Ward Melville, Bridgewater-Raritan and Sachem North.  There are no records in our database (since 2005) of Middle Country and Pittsford facing.  They will play in the 4:30 PM game tomorrow.  The Pittsford boys will also play for the State Finals tomorrow at 10:00 AM against Ward Melville at St. John Fisher College.
