Victor Wins 4th Straight NYS Championship
Victor defeated Garden City (section VIII) 12-9 Saturday at SUNY Cortland to earn its fourth consecutive NYS class B title. The Blue Devils' streak of four championships is the longest in New York girls lacrosse since Garden CIty--coincidentally--won seven consecutive class B titles from 2006 through 2012.
The game was a back-and-forth affair. Garden City led 5-4 at halftime but Victor took a 9-7 lead early in the fourth quarter. Then, after Garden City rallied to tie the game at nine, Maia Pronti scored a goal to break the tie and the Blue Devils added two late goals to provide the final margin of victory.
Maia Pronti had two goals and three assists for Victor; her final assist was her 82nd of the season and the 150th of her varsity career. Morgan Livingston led the Blue Devils with four goals and an assist. Allie Pisano recorded a goal and two assists, as well as a team-high four draw controls. McKenna Anderson (2g) and Camryn Adrid (1g/1a) also made key contributions.Victor concludes yet another remarkable season with a record of 18-4. [ Story and BOX SCORE]
