Monday: Penn Yan, CA and Wayne Win

DAY IN REVIEW: MONDAY -  It's vacation week and  fewer games are being played. Today there were four games, with three of them against out of Section teams. Penn Yan, CA, and Wayne won their games, but Victor lost to CNS in a close one.

CANANDAIGUA 10 - WESTWOOD (MA) 2  - The Canandaigua Braves won in convincing fashion over the defending Massachusetts State Champions, Westwood by a score of 10-2.  While Junior Hanna Davis (5g, 1a) poured 6 more points, and Seniors Koehler Nieman (2g, 1a) and Liv Schorr (1g, 2a) each notched 3 points, it was the Braves Defensive team effort the carried the day, including 4 Saves by Goalie, Maggie Cross.  With the victory, Canandaigua improves to 2-0 and faces another tough match-up with Connecticut powerhouse, Wilton tomorrow.   [BOXSCORE

PENN YAN 14 - ITHACA 9  - The Penn-Yan Mustangs took down Section 4’s Ithaca 14-9 in Ithaca today.  Freshman Bailey Cooper exploded for 9 goals and 1 assist to pace the Mustangs to victory, while Junior Middie Taylor Mullins was instrumental in keeping the ball in Penn Yan’s offensive end, controlling 6 grass and picking up 4 GB’s.  Goalie Marion Wheeler made 6 saves on the day.  Penn Yan is now 2-0 on the young season.   [BOXSCORE

VICTOR 10 - CNS 11  - Victor travelled out of section to CNS today, and fell to Cicero-North Syracuse by a score of 10-11. The game was very close throughout with neither team able to pull away.  After playing to a 4-4 halftime tie, CNS was able to outlast the Blue Devils and drop their record to 1-1.  For Victor, Devin Livingston scored 4 goals and added an assist, while Allie Pisano added 2 goals and 2 assists.  Defensively, Senior Maryn Savage caused 4 turnovers and scooped 2 Ground Balls.  Victor will play Mercy tomorrow.   [BOXSCORE

WAYNE 9 - GATES CHILI 1  - Wayne opened their season today with a commanding 9-1 victory over Gates-Chili.  Madelyn Hillman (3g, 1a) was the leading scorer for Wayne, and Abby Brown was also productive on the offensive end for Wayne. Mimi Uganda made 8 saves between the pipes for the Eagles, while allowing only one goal, as the Wayne defense shut out the Spartans in the second half.   [BOXSCORE
