Penfield Over Mercy
The Patriots took control early in their non-league matchup against Mercy, building a 10-2 halftime lead on their way to a decisive 16-6 victory. The game was largely decided in the draw circle, where Penfield took 21 of 25 draw controls.
Seven players scored for Penfield (9-3), including Peyton Rothfuss (3g), whose first goal in the game was the 150th of her varsity career. Whitney Reynolds had four goals, including her 50th of her career. Avery Fordham and Reegan Sercu scored three goals apiece.
Mercy (8-2) was led by Mia Lusardi, who finished with one goal and two assists. Lydia Malvaso and Mia Quagrello each had two goals for the Monarchs, and Elinor Meyer made eight saves.
The Patriots resume play on Tuesday when they take on Schroeder. The Monarchs visit Baldwinsville (Section III) on Saturday. [ Story and BOX SCORE]
