Red Raiders Comeback and Win over Overtime

Fairport is becoming used to playing in overtime.  In the last four games, the Red Raiders have gone to overtime three times and won all three.  Maddie Howe scored her third goal of the night with 1:11 left in overtime to secure the victory.

Fairport scored the opening goal with Sophia LaMendola assisting Hannah Marafioti to give the Red Raiders a 1-0 lead.  Irondequoit came back and scored four unanswered goal to take control of the game.  Annie Brennan (2), Leah O`Sullivan, Quinn Melidona scored for the Eagles.  Marafioti scored again (with a feed from Howe) to bring the game within two with 13:21 remaining in the half.  Both teams remained scoreless for nine minutes before Irondequoit added their fifth with an unassisted goal from Maira Brennan.

Fairport finished out the final three minutes of the half strong and scored five goals in less than 2 minutes.  Megan Konieczny, Sydney Meagher, Cameryn Dera (2) and Howe scored with all but Konieczny's being unassisted.  Fairport held a small advantage at the half (7-5).

Coming out of the break, Irondequoit went to town and scored four goals to take a 9-7 lead.  The Red Raidres spent the final 15 minutes slowly catchup to the Eagles and shaving their lead.  With 4:30 remaining Fairport tied the game for the fourth time with Meagher scoring her second goal of the night.  Two minutes later Irondequoit took back the lead.  Erika Sherwood scored with an assist from Marina Butler.  This time it only took the Red Raiders 0:33 to tie the game.  Dera scored unassisted to force overtime.  

Fairport's Diksha Thakkar played three minutes and did not record a save.  Isabel Hofford finished with 6 saves recorded.
