Ruggieri Wins with Less Than 1 Minute

Erika Ruggieri scored with 0:44 remaining in regulation to give Brockport the 8-7 win over Hilton.  These two teams faced earlier in the season with Hilton coming out on top 13-12 (HERE).  The Blue Devils came into the game looking for retribution and found it. This was the final game of the regular season for the Blue Devils and they finished the season 11-5.  Hilton still has one game left on the books against Fairport on Wednesday.

Hilton scored the first goal and kept the game close throughout.  They Cadets even led for the later portion of the first half.  Payton Cook scored the first goal with an assist from Rachel Ryan.  Cook and Ryan were a part of six of the seven goals for Hilton.  Brockport scored the next three to take the largest lead by either team (3-1).  Leah Daly, who finished with 4g, scored the first and third goals.  Christina Middleton scored the second goal for the Blue Devils.  Hilton responded with three goals of their own in just over two minutes.  Ryan scored two and Cook scored one.  The Cadets led 4-3 with 6:33 remaining in the first half.  Each team added one goal before halftime.  Daly scored her third for the Blue Devils and Ryan scored her third for the Cadets.  Hilton led 5-4 at the half.

Brockport scored the first goal of the second half and never trailed after that.  Emma Moulton scored her only goal of the game for the Blue Devils 1:42 into the second half.  Four minutes later, Daly scored again to give Brockport their first lead since 3-2.  They held off the last two goals from the Cadets with a response each time.  Ruggieri's response coming in the final minute.  In the cage for Brockport, Nicole Piskorowski recorded 10 saves (59%).
