Choate and Coykendall Secure Win for Spencerport

For the third time in as many years the Spencerport vs Fairport game was decided by two goals or less.  The Ranger's got revenge after last year's 7-6 overtime loss to the Red Raiders (HERE).  Spencerport defeated Fairport 11-9 after scoring three of the last four goals.  Natalie Choate (5g-1a) and Erin Coykendall (1g-5a) were instrumental in the Ranger's victory.

The Red Raiders came out of the gate fired up and scored the first two goals with Morgan Schwab and Brittany Pollack each scoring unassisted goals.  Spencerport came back two minutes later and scored five unanswered goals spanning the next 16 minutes.  Choate scored three (with two of them assisted by Coykendall).  With 3:11 remaining in the first half, Fairport scored their third goal with Schwab assisting Pollack.  Mia Brunken added the four Fairport goal of the opening half.  

Coming out of halftime, Fairport took back their lead with back to back goals from Schwab and Sarah Falk.  The next ten minutes were back and forth scoring by both teams.  With 13:10 remaining in the contest, Schwab scored her third goal of the night to tie the game at 8-8.  Choate and Coykendall hooked up for two more goals for the Rangers to take a 10-8 lead with 7:32 remaining.  Each team added one more goal, but the Red Raiders could not force overtime.

For Spencerport, sophomore Kiari Rufus played her first game between the pipes and recorded 8 saves and 1 ground balls.
