Mapstone Leads Mynderse over East Rochester

After a close first half, Mynderse pulled away in the last 10 minutes of the first half to defeat East Rochester 15-6.  The Bombers came out of the gate strong and took a 3-0 lead.  The first goal was scored with a drive from behind the cage by Madilynn Walsh.  Mariah Quinzi scored the next two goals for East Rochester off 8m free position shots.  Over half the total goals were scored off 8m shots (8 for Mynderse and 4 for East Rochester).  Myndere’s opening goal was scored by Sarah Shaffer on the 8m line.  East Rochester’s fourth goal was a textbook give and go with Courtney Brock passing off to Sarah Griffin before cutting. Griffin found her cutting from goal line extended.

Mynderse responded with the next eight goals in just over 5 minutes.  The Blue Devils led 9-4 with 4:05 remaining in the first half.  One standout goal from the stretch was a fast-break goal off the draw control for Sadie Mapstone.  Mapstone finished with 6 draw controls for Mynderse.  East Rochester scored the final of the first half and the first goal of the second half to cut the lead to 9-6.  Both goals were scored on free position shots.  Mynderse finished out the game with another series of six goals.  Sophomore Jordan Howell scored her first Varsity goal as the final goal of the game.

In the cage for East Rochester, Frankie Puglisi recorded 9 saves (4 off of 8m shots).  Madilynn Walsh led in draw controls and groundballs with four each.  For Mynderse, Mary Doell joined Mapstone and also finished with 6 draw controls.
