Geneva Scores 10 Straight in Win

Geneva scored 10 unanswered goals in their 14-6 win over Eastridge.  This was the first time since before 2005 that the Panthers and Lancers have faced.  Audra Burrall had a great game between the pipes and recorded 9 saves for Geneva.  Offensively, Lauren DeVaney finished with 5g-2a to lead the Panthers.

DeVaney scored the opening goal of the game off an 8m free position shot just 1:01 into the game.  Eastridge responded with the next two goals of their first two shots.  The first was set up by Shannon Coffaro with a feed to Cherlyn Felle as she cut to the crease.  Felle scored the second goal as well, with a drive down the left side.  Eastridge led 2-1 with 20:39 remaining in the first half.  Geneva scored the next 9 goals to end first half, as well as the first goal of the second half.  The six non-free position shots to finish out the first half were all assisted goals.  Meghan Sands scored the first non-free position shot off a feed from Angie Perry and an underhanded shovel shot.  Three minutes later, Perry scored her lone goal of the game with a fast-break goal assisted by Emily Kerr.  The Panthers continued to add on points into the second half.

The opening goal of the second half saw Lily Sellers assisting DeVaney with an inside feed to the crease.  The final three Geneva goals all began off 8m shots with the first coming off a straight shot and the second two both coming off feeds from 8m shots.  For Eastridge, Coffaro and Felle each scored an unassisted goal with a drive straight to the goal.  The final goal of the game was scored off a loose ball on the crease.  Burrall made back to back saves, but the third shot in less than 5 seconds went into the back of the net.  Coffaro scored the final goal with the extra-dedication.

DeVaney led the Panthers in draw controls with 5 for the Panthers.  For Eastridge, Felle finished with 5 draw controls and Kara Taranto recorded 5 ground balls.  In the cage for the Lancers, Isabel Tilloston recorded 10 saves.
