Finger Lakes End of Season Awards 2017
Finger Lakes end of season awards come in with 25 First and 24 Second Team All County Players. There are also 20 Honorable Mention Players. In addition, there were 2 All Americans and 2 Academic All Americans. As well as Defense Player of the Year, a Midfield Player of the Year and an Attack Player of the Year.
All Americans:
Sophia Leva (All American):
Sophia is a senior goalie from Pal-Mac. She finished the season with 191 saves at 62.60% and played in all 21 games for the Red Raiders. She was instrumental in their advancement to the State Semi-Finals. The Red Raiders finished their season 17-4. In their final game vs. Skaneateles she recorded 13 saves (57%) and was a key factor in the first half keeping the game close. She is committed to play at Marquette next season.
Aldyn Savage (All American):
Aldyn is a senior midfielder from Pal-Mac. In 2016 she was named Offensive Player of the Year and this season was named Midfield Player of the Year. She finished the season with 40g-27a and 83 draw controls. She scored at least one goal in 19 of the 21 contests. Her biggest scoring game was vs. Geneva (3g-3a). She scored 1g in the last game of the season in their State Semi-Final loss to Skaneateles. She is committed to play at Binghamton next season.
Emily Welch (All Academic):
Emily is a senior defender from Wayne. We currently do not have a college listed for next season.
Sadie Mapstone (All Academic):
Sadie is a senior offensive player from Mynderse. In addition to her noted Academic achievements, she finsihed her lacrosse career with over 200 goals (300 points) and was named All League four consecutive years. She will attend William Smith College in the fall.
Players of the Year:
Sophia Leva (Defense Player of the Year):
In addition to All American honors, Ms. Leva was named Defense Player of the Year.
Anna Leva (Attack Player of the Year):
Anna is a senior attackman from Pal-Mac. She finished her season with 48g-60a. She led her team in total points with 108 and total assists. As noted above, Pal-Mac advanced to the State Semi-Finals vs. Skaneateles. She led her team with 2g-1a in that contest. She scored at least one point in all 21 games. Her biggest game was against East Aurora in the State Quarter Finals where she recorded 4g-6a. She is committed to play at Edinboro next season.
Aldyn Savage (Midfield Player of the Year):
In addition to All American honors, Ms. Savage was named Midfield Player of the Year.
Coaches of the Year:
Finger Lakes named co-Coaches of the Year this season with EJ Burse (Pal-Mac) and Corey Foster (Mynderse) both receiving the honor.
