Eastridge Comes Back for Win in Season Opener

Eastridge scored the last three goals of the game to defeat Wayne 5-4 in their season opener.  The Lancers trailed for most of the first half before tying the game with 4:15 left in the first half.  They continued their streak in the second half with the only goal.  In total, Eastridge held the Eagles scoreless for just short of 40 minutes.

Wayne started off the scoring with three goals in the first nine minutes.  Katie Leaty scored the first of her three goals only 0:47 into the game.  Just under a minute later, Kira McBride scored her lone goal of the game.  Leaty’s second goal came off a feed from Lauren Coene.  The Eagles led 3-0 with 16:35 remaining.  Eastridge fought back with two goals of their own from Emily Beaumont and Nicole Hetzer that were only 27 seconds apart.  The final Eagle goal was Leaty’s third (also assisted by Coene).

Eastridge added two more goals to finish out the first half with scoring from Skye Gaudio and a second goal from Beaumont.  The game winning goal was Gaudio’s second of the night and was scored with 10:05 left in the second half.  Eastridge’s Kara Taranto led in draw controls with 3 and midfielder Makaila Greenhagen added 3 caused turnovers for the Lancers.  In the cage for Eastridge, Isabel Tillotson recorded 5 saves (56%).  For Wayne, Morgan Osborne recorded 11 saves (69%).
