Pollack Leads Red Raiders to Victory

Fairport junior Britteny Pollack led in scoring with 4g-3a in Fairport's 19-5 win over Mercy.  The Red Raiders had 12 different players make their offensive scorebook for the season opener.  Junior midfielder Maddie Howe and senior midfielder Megan Konieczny finished with 3g-1a each.  She was also demonstrative at the draw; she finished with six draw controls for Fairport.  Mercy seventh graded Sami Carey finished with a hand in each of the five Monarch goals (3g-2a).

The game started closer than the final score shows.  The first five goals were back and forth.  The Red Raiders opened the scoring only 0:17 into the contest.  Sophomore Cameryn Dera scored off a loose ball around the crease.  Four minutes later and the Monarchs tied the game.  Carey scored her first of back to back unassisted goals with a drive from behind the cage.  Fairport quickly re-took the lead only 0:20 later.  Howe fed the ball into Pollack as she cut towards the goal.  Carey's second goal was scored with a drive along the left side of the cage.  With 19:49 remaining, the game was tied for the last time at 2-2.

The Red Raiders scored the next five goals to take the lead and never look back.  Five different Raiders each scored a single goal during the stretch.  The scoring came from Howe, senior Megan Konieczny, junior Brenna Linder, Dera and Pollack.  Fairport kept the pressure up on the way to a 12-4 halftime score and a 19-5 final score.

In the cage for Fairport, juniors Isabel Hofford and Diksha Thakker split time between the pipes.  Hofford recorded three saves and Thakker finished with one recorded save.  For the Monarchs, Dominique Rattelade played the entire 50 minutes and recorded six saves.

The Red Raider's next contest is against Livonia on April 4th.  The Monarchs also face Livonia in their next contest on April 2nd.
