Thursday - Geneva and HF-L Advance To Finals

There were six games played tonight and all but one was a decisive win. In semifinal games HF-L won their ticket for the finals and Geneva won their spot as well.

Penn Yan and WaterlooVICTOR 19 - SPENCERPORT 5  - QTR - No. 1 seed and nationally-ranked Victor had little trouble with Spencerport, defeating the eighth-seeded Rangers by a score of 19-5.  The Blue Devils will take on No. 4 Brighton in a semifinal tilt on Saturday.        [BOXSCORE]

BRIGHTON 13 - THOMAS 9  - QTR - Brighton also earned a berth into the Class B Semi-Final Round with a 13-9 win over a gritty and talented Webster Thomas team.  Brighton utilized a strong first half effort, doubling up Thomas 8-4, and held Thomas to an even 5-5 stalemate in the second half, to secure the victory and the opportunity to continue their season.  No book was submitted for either team at time of post.  Brighton will face Victor at Pittsford Sutherland on Saturday.        [BOXSCORE]

Penn Yan and WaterlooCANANDAIGUA 15 - SCHROEDER 6  - QTR - Canandaigua hosted Webster Schroeder in a Class B Quarterfinal, and easily defended their #2 seed with a 15-6 victory.  The Braves jumped all over the Warriors early, building a 14-1 lead by halftime, and then used the second half to give some other younger players with Sectional experience.  In her last game on Braves field, Abbey Herod delivered a signature performance, controlling a whopping 14 draws, picking up 4 GB’s, and leading all scorers with 2 Goals and 3 Assists.  Canandaigua had balanced offensive output with Koehler Nieman (3g-1a) and Makenna Crouse (2g-2a) scoring 4 points a piece, while Liv Schorr (3g) and Hanna Davis (2g-1a) also contributed  strong performances.  No Book was submitted for Schroeder at time of post.  Canandaigua will take on Irondequoit in the Class B Semi-Final on Saturday at Pittsford Sutherland.        [BOXSCORE]

MERCY 8 - IRONDEQUOIT 12  - QTR - In class B, No. 6 Irondequoit continued its strong late-season play with a 12-8 victory over third-seeded Mercy.  Mia Lusardi had three goals for the Monarchs, who finish the season with a 12-5 record.  For the Eagles, it was their sixth consecutive win, reversing an earlier loss to the Monarchs back in April.  Maeve Brennan had five goals for Irondequoit, while Alison Baumgartner scored two goals and recorded eight draw controls.  The Eagles will meet No. 2 Canandaigua in a semifinal match on Saturday. The two teams met earlier this month, when Canandaigua escaped with an 8-7 victory.         [BOXSCORE]

Penn Yan and WaterlooHF-L 20 - EASTRIDGE 8  - SEMI - In class C, top-seeded Honeoye Falls-Lima dispatched No. 5 Eastridge, 20-8.  With the win, the Cougars advance to the finals, where they will face off against second seed Geneva on Tuesday.  Skye Gaudio had five goals in a losing effort for the Lancers.        [BOXSCORE]

GENEVA 14 - NEWARK-MIDLAKES 6  - SEMI - In Class C Semi-Final Action, Geneva defeated Newark-Midlakes 14-6 to earn their spot in the Championship Game.  No book was submitted for either team at time of post.  Geneva will compete for the Class C Championship against HFL at East Rochester on Tuesday May 31        [BOXSCORE]
