Thursday: Overtime Thriller Gives Irondequoit Win over CA

DAY IN REVIEW: THURSDAY - In an exciting overtime game, Irondequoit (#4) beat Canandaigua (#1) 6-5 setting up the Eagles to play Victor, who defeated Spencerport in the championship in Class B. In Class C tonight, Pal-Mac won their game with Geneva and HFL (#3) won their game with Geneva (#2) setting them up for the Championship game on May 31st at East Rochester.

Geneva vs Pal-MacIRONDEQUOIT-6 at CANANDAIGUA-5 in a Sect V Semifinal game - In a hard-fought defensive battle, the Irondequoit Eagles outlasted the Canandaigua Braves 6-5 in overtime on a goal by Ella Brennan, assisted by her sister, Maeve.  The game was back and forth throughout with Irondequoit scoring first, but Canandaigua battling back to take a 3-2 lead into the half. Canandaigua was led by senior, Liv Schorr who scored 4 of the Braves 5 goals, while fellow seniors Koehler Nieman (1g) and Maggie Cross (6 saves) also did their best to keep the Braves season alive. Irondequoit's Maeve Brennan (3g-1a) scored 4 points in victory for the Eagles.  No Book was submitted for Irondequoit at time of post.  They advance to face Victor in the Class B final next Wednesday.     [ BOX SCORE

GENEVA-5 at PAL-MAC-17 in a Sect V Semifinal game - For the top-seeded Red Raiders, it was their 13th win in a row against Geneva dating back to 2014.  Reagan Diehl had five goals to lead Pal-Mac (14-4), Anna Priebe chipped in three goals, including the 50th of her career, Molly Seither recorded six draw controls, and goaltender Faith Beals stopped seven shots.  There were no statistics reported from No. 4 Geneva (9-8) at post time.    [ BOX SCORE

Geneva vs Pal-MacHONEOYE FALLS-LIMA-18 at AQUINAS-11 in a Sect V Semifinal game - #3 HF-L took an early 8-2 lead and held off #2 Aquinas for the win.  Camryn Trybuskiewicz (4g/3a) and Clare Ruff (5g/2a) helped to ignite the Cougars' attack.  Lily Brady was the backbone of the defense, recording seven saves, and ninth-grader Jenna Lawrence caused two turnovers.  For Aquinas (13-5), Savannah Hinchcliffe scored five goals and secured nine draw controls, and Gianna Leonardi reached a career milestone with her 100th assist.  On Wednesday, HF-L (11-7) will face Pal-Mac in the class C sectional finals.    [ BOX SCORE

SPENCERPORT-6 at VICTOR-13 in a Sect V Semifinal game - In the other Class B Semi-final, Victor prevailed over Spencerport 13-6.  For Spencerport, Molly Guzik (3g), Brooke Endres (2g) and Alyssa Nichols (1g-1a) accounted for the offensive production, while Goalie McKenna Hussar made 8 saves.  No Book was submitted for Victor at time of post.  The Blue Devils will face Irondequoit for the Sectional Title on May 31.     [ BOX SCORE
