Saturday: Clean Sweep of Westerns

DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - Section V teams won all four games today at Clarence High School and they will advance to the semi-finals on Championship Weekend at Cortland on June 9th.

HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA-22 at LAKE SHORE-9 in a NYS Quarterfinal game -  Seven different players scored in the game where the Cougars scored sixteen goals in the first half and six more in the second. Freshman attacker Shaye Angelo (3g-3a) and senior midfielder Clare Ruff (6g) led the team in scoring. Senior defensive midfielder Marlee Green (1g) reached her 50th goal and freshman defender Anna DeClerck scored her first Varsity goal in the game. PENN YAN-17 at EDEN-3 in a NYS Quarterfinal game - With the win, the Mustangs advance to the State semifinals for the first time since 2006.  Leading the scoring for Penn Yan (15-4) were Corinne Barden (2g/2a), Taylor Mullins (1g/3a), Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger (4g), Gianna Voigt (1g/3a), and Bailey Cooper (6g/2a).  On Friday, the Mustangs will play Bronxville (I), last year's class D champs, at 11 a.m. at Cortland High School. FAIRPORT-18 at LANCASTER-8 in a NYS Quarterfinal game - Eight players scored for Fairport (17-2), including Makayla Keys (3g/3a), Lily Kondas (4g), and Katie Mallaber (2g/1a), who achieved a career milestone with her 100th career goal.  The win was Fairport's sixth in a row.  The Red Raiders move on to face Suffern (I) Friday in the State semifinals at 3 p.m. at Cortland High School.
