Brighton Over Pittsford in One Goal Game

DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - There were seven games played today and although most were mismatches, Victor had a 10-8 win over Rush-Henrietta and Brighton won a 7-6 game with Pittsford.

Irondequoit vs CanandaiguaRUSH-HENRIETTA-8 at VICTOR-10 - The Blue Devils built a 6-1 halftime lead and fought off a late rally by the Royal Comets to preserve the win.  There were no statistics reported from Victor at post time.  Leading the scoring for Rush-Henrietta were Kate DeWald (2g/1a), Riley Brown (1g/1a), Danielle Garrett (2g/1a), and Catrina Rowe (2g).  Angelia Oechsle had seven saves for the Royal Comets.  Both teams, whose records are an identical 4-2, resume play on Friday, when Victor hosts Irondequoit and Rush-Henrietta hosts Spencerport.        [ BOX SCORE

THOMAS-4 at FAIRPORT-9 - With the win, Fairport’s record improves to 5-2.  Marisa Test had eight saves to lead the Red Raiders.  Ella Peers had three goals and a game-high five draw controls for Fairport, and Camryn DuBose contributed two goals and an assist.  Megan Springer had nine saves for the Titans.  On Monday, the Red Raiders look for their sixth victory of the season when they host HF-L.  Thomas has a non-league matchup Saturday against visiting Horseheads (IV).      [ BOX SCORE

IRONDEQUOIT-6 at CANANDAIGUA-12 - After a tight first half, the Gray Wolves pulled away from the Eagles in the third quarter and held on for the win.  Caroline Lyttle scored three goals for undefeated Canandaigua (7-0); Hanna Davis, Lola Schorr, and Leah Sheridan each chipped in two goals, Nola Weaver secured five draw controls, and Meckenzie Taft recorded five saves.  There were no statistics reported from Irondequoit at post time.  The Gray Wolves have a non-league contest Saturday against Clarence (VI).  The Eagles travel to Victor to face the Blue Devils on Friday.         [ BOX SCORE

CHURCHVILLE-CHILI-3 at SPENCERPORT-15 -  It was Spencerport’s ninth win in a row over the Saints dating back to 2016.  Molly Guzik (5g/2a), Alyssa Nichols (3g), and Brooke Endres (3g/1a) were all multi-goal scorers for the Rangers, whose record now stands at 6-1; Guzik also recorded 13 draw controls.  There were no statistics reported from Churchville-Chili at post time.  Both teams take to the road on Friday, when the Rangers meet Rush-Henrietta and the Saints face off against Newark-Midlakes.           [ BOX SCORE

Irondequoit vs CanandaiguaPITTSFORD-6 at BRIGHTON-7 -  The Bruins gained their first victory of the season at the expense of their rivals from Pittsford, tallying three unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to seal the win.  All of Brighton’s scoring was provided by Lucy Lederman (2g), Alexandra Madison (2g), and Ireland Mistretta (3g).  Lauren Russell recorded five saves for the Bruins.  There were no statistics reported from Pittsford at post time.  Both teams host non-league games next, with the Bruins facing Baldwinsville (III) on Monday and the Panthers opposing Colonie Central (II) on Saturday.        [ BOX SCORE

SCHROEDER-17 at BROCKPORT-8 -  The Warriors’ win was their seventh straight over the Blue Devils dating back to 2016.  Molly Meyer (4g/2a) paced the attack for Schroeder, while Eve Pagano and Madison Olsen each scored her first varsity goal.  There were no statistics reported from Brockport at post time.  The Warriors face non-league opponent Colonie Central (II) on Friday.  The Blue Devils travel to Irondequoit to take on the Eagles next Wednesday.       [ BOX SCORE

GENEVA-17 at NEWARK-MIDLAKES-6 -  The Panthers were led by a six-goal, three-assist performance from Allie Good and 10 saves from Maddie Askin.  Eighth-grader Zoey Overslaugh had three goals in a losing effort for Newark-Midlakes.  On Friday, the Panthers travel to Greece to take on the Storm, and the Screaming Eagles host Churchville-Chili.        [ BOX SCORE
