Victor and Mercy Win Championships

DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - Second seeded Victor won their third Section V championship in a row with a strong second and third quarter performance. Mercy came from behind, scoring five goals in the second half, to defeat HFL 10-9.

Canandaigua vs VictorMERCY-10 at HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA-9 - The Cougars took the 4-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and then led 8-5 at the half. The second half belonged to the Monarchs who outscored HFL 4-1 in the third, tying the game at 9-9 after three quarters. Mercy scored the lone goal in the fourth giving them the Championship. Leading the scoring for Mercy (9-9) were sophomore Mia Quagrello (4g), junior Krista Harnischfeger (2g-1a), and sophomore attacker Sydney Cook (2g). Leading the scoring for Honeoye Falls-Lima (9-10) were senior Camryn Trybuskiewicz (1g-4a), sophomore Shaye Angelo (4g), and junior Rylee Bennett (1g-1a). Mercy will play Lake Shore (Section VI) at FLCC on Saturday.         [ BOX SCORE

Canandaigua vs VictorVICTOR-15 at CANANDAIGUA-10 - Canandaigua took a 3-2 lead after the first quarter, but the Blue Devils responded with seven goals in the second quarter and led at the half 9-5. When they outscored the Gray Wolves 5-2 in the third it was too much for Canandaigua despite scoring three goals in the last stanza. Scoring for Canandaigua (16-3) were senior Hanna Davis (3g-1a), sophomore Lola Schorr (3g-1a), senior Caroline Lyttle (2g-1a), sophomore Leah Sheridan (2g-1a), and junior Samantha Lupton (1a).  There was no report from Victor (16-3) at post-time. The Blue Devils will play Clarence (Section VI) at 1:00 PM on Saturday at FLCC.     [ BOX SCORE
