Thrilling Victories and Nail-Biters on Monday

DAY IN REVIEW: MONDAY - Monday`s matchups showcased dominant performances and thrilling finishes across the Finger Lakes and beyond. Waterloo edged Livonia-Avon-Geneseo in an overtime thriller, 13-12; the Tigers were led by a five-goal performance from Maci Mueller and 13 saves from Peyton Lyons. Zoey Overslaugh had six goals and collected 11 draw controls WG at Penn Yanas Newark-Midlakes rolled past Gananda-Marion, 17-5, for its first win of the season. Penn Yan fell just short in a tense 10-9 battle against West Genesee. Rush-Henrietta extended its 10-game winning streak against Hilton with a decisive 17-5 victory. Geneva remained unbeaten after an 11-4 win over Marcus Whitman, and Wayne defeated Brockport 17-6. Lancaster (Section VI) beat Aquinas-WOIS 16-6. 

HILTON-5 at RUSH-HENRIETTA-17 - Rush-Henrietta defeated Hilton 17-5, extending their winning streak against the Cadets to 10. Rush-Henrietta`s standout performances came from Riley Brown (4g/1a), Kate DeWald (4g/2a), and Danielle Garrett (2g/5a). Goalie Taylor Potwin made seven saves for the Royal Comets. GENEVA-11 at MARCUS WHITMAN-4 - Geneva defeated Marcus Whitman 11-4 in a Finger Lakes matchup. Makenna Harris led Geneva with six goals and an assist. Aubriella Bowman and Helen Snyder scored two goals each for Marcus Whitman. Geneva (4-0) remains undefeated WG at Penn Yanon the season.    [ Story and BOX SCORE

WAYNE-17 at BROCKPORT-6 - Wayne triumphed over Brockport by a score of 17-6, led by Isabella Veltre (4g/2a) and Anabelle Ruffell (4g), and by first-time varsity scorers Maddie Schreiber and Aidan Kovach. Kendall Akers led the Blue Devils with three goals.     [ Story and BOX SCORE

WEST GENESEE-10 at PENN YAN-9 - Penn Yan (1-2) came up just short in a non-league clash against West Genesee, falling by a score of 10-9. NEWARK-MIDLAKES-17 at GANANDA-MARION-5 - Newark-Midlakes earned its first win of the season, defeating Gananda-Marion 17-5 in a Finger Lakes game. Ninth-grader Zoey Overslaugh (6g/11dc) led the Screaming Eagles, supported by Thea Lewis, Kendall DeBrock, Brooke Faust, and Jamie Lawson.     [ Story and BOX SCORE

WATERLOO-13 at LIVONIA-AVON-GENESEO-12 in Overtime - [UPDATED] Waterloo earned a narrow 13-12 win over Livonia-Avon-Geneseo in a competitive Finger Lakes game. Leading the way for Waterloo was Maci Mueller (5g/5a) who scored the winning goal. Lily Rowe and Maddie Whitford led Livonia-Avon-Geneseo with four goals each.
