Newark-Midlakes Secures Victory
Newark-Midlakes surged to its first win of the season, defeating Gananda-Marion by a score of 17 to 5 in a Finger Lakes game at Richard Mann Elementary. Ninth-grader Zoey Overslaugh excelled, recording six goals, including the 50th of her varsity career. She also dominated the circle, collecting 11 draw controls. Senior midfielder Thea Lewis added five goals, one assist, and four caused turnovers for the Screaming Eagles. Ninth-graders Kendall DeBrock (4g/3a) and Brooke Faust (1g/2a) scored their first varsity goals. Junior Jamie Lawson rounded out the scoring with a goal and two assists. Daniela Orozco-Aguilar recorded three saves.
Gananda-Marion (0-4) did not submit its statistics for the game.
Newark-Midlakes (1-1) looks ahead to its matchup Wednesday against undefeated Geneva; also on Wednesday, Gananda-Marion takes on Wayne.
