Ginsberg Scores In Overtime to Lift Gananda
Jenna Ginsberg scored with 2:25 remaining in overtime to give Gananda their second overtime win of the season. Previous, Jordan Cunningham scored in overtime to give the Blue Panthers the win over East Rochester. The games were extremely similar with Gananda taking an early lead that their opponents fought back from to force overtime before winning in sudden victory. Gananda in 3-2 on the season.
Two Overtime Games
Tonight's contests had two more overtime games with Aquinas defeating Mercy 12-11 and Gananda defeating Wayne 7-6. Spencerport won the second half 6-1 to defeat Churchville-Chili 9-6. Waterloo defeated Marcus Whitman 11-6. In other scores, Geneva defeated East Rochester 19-3 and Pal-Mac defeated Midlakes 20-5.
Four Games to Start the Week
With four games tonight, three were runaways and one was relatively close. Gananda defeated Eastridge 8-4. Brockport defeated Greece Oly/Arc 20-8, Hilton defeated Gates-Chili 19-3 and Fairport defeated Livonia 20-6.
End of Week #4
There were five overtime games this week with Gananda over East Rochester 6-5, Pittsford over Brighton 8-7. HFL over Penfield 11-10, HFL over Thomas 6-5 and Gates-Chili over Eastridge 9-8. Only two teams are still undefeated in Section Five (Spencerport at 2-0 and Marcus Whitman 3-0).
Nelson Scores 4 in Schroeder Win
Schroeder scored four of the last six goals to defeat Penn Yan 9-7. The Warriors move to 3-1 with the win and the Mustangs fell to 2-3. Sophomore Kelsey Nelson finished with four goals for Schroeder. Payton Lill, also a sophomore, finished with 3g-1a and continues to lead the team in goals with a season total of 12g-5a. The season totals for Schroeder can be found HERE.
Pittsford Gives CNS First Loss of Season
Pittsford moves to 5-1 with their 10-7 win over CNS (Section III). CNS falls to 6-1 with their first loss of the season coming at the hands of the Panthers. The game was highly contested in the first half with both teams leading. The Panthers scored the first four goals to the second half to secure the win. Senior Maddie Miller scored the first two goals of the second half to set the pace for the remainder of the game.
Nine more games
Another weekend finished in Section Five. Today saw Pittsford defeating CNS (Section III) 10-7. The Northstars were previously undefeated. Webster Schroeder held off a late advance to defeat Penn Yan 9-7. R-H defeated out of section Lancaster 14-5 and South Jefferson defeated HFL 13-8. In other games Mercy defeated Clarence 10-6 and Pal-Mac defeated Churchville-Chili 9-4. In single goal games, Gates-Chili scored in overtime over Eastridge 9-8 and Thomas defeated Hilton 16-15,
Three One Sided Games
All three games tonight were one-sided contests. The closest was Waterloo's 14-6 win over Gananda. Also played tonight were Marcus Whitman over East Rochester 17-1 and Brockport over Livonia 17-3.
Seniors Bauld and Beikirch Lift Ath/Ody
Seniors Chelsea Bauld and Seanna Beikirch helped to lift Greece Athena/Odyssey over Eastridge 9-8. The Lancers led the game for the first 30 minutes before a yellow card give the Thunder a man-up advantage that led to three 8 meter goals from Beikirch. She finished with 3g-2a for the Thunder. Bauld, who finished with 1g, was demonstrative at the draw control, winning 6 controls. Beikirch added another 4 controls for Thunder.
Pittsford over Irondequoit 9-6
The Panthers scored five of the last seven goals to defeat Irondequoit 9-6. The game was back and forth for the first 25 minutes, but Pittsford led or had a tied score for the majority of the game. The Ealges came out shooting with Annie Brennan scoring only 1:50 into the contest. The Panthers scored the next four goals to take a 4-1 lead with 5:00 left in the first quarter. Irondequoit added tow more goals before halftime and Pittsford led 4-3 at halftime.
Back to Back OT Wins for HFL
Kierin Ratliff scored the game winning goal in overtime to lift HFL over Webster Thomas 6-5. The Cougars have won their last two games in overtime after and 11-10 win over PENFIELD.
Four One Goal Games
Four games were decided by a single goal tonight. HFL defeated Thomas (6-5) in overtime, Greece Ath/Ody defeated Eastridge (9-8), Fairport defeated Churchville-Chili (8-7) and Mynderse defeated Midlakes (10-9). In more one sided contests, Canandaigua over Schroeder 8-4, Pittsford over Irondequoit 9-6 and Hilton over Greece Oly/Arc 13-4.
Multiple Close Games
Today saw multiple close games with Mercy defeating Brockport 5-3, Waterloo defeating Geneva 7-5 and Livonia defeating Wayne 12-9. There were also a number of one sided contests with Penn Yan defeating Gananda 11-3, Marcus Whitman defeating Newark 13-1 and Spencerport defeated Gates-Chili 19-3. Pal-Mac also defeated Aquinas 15-9.
Six Different Scorers Lift Waterloo over Geneva
In a game that was never more than two goals apart, Waterloo defeated Geneva 7-5. The Indians had six different girls score their seven goals. There were only two times in the entire game where the same team scored back to back with Waterloo adding two both times. All five goals for Geneva were scored by different girls.
Eagles Fly Past Rangers
Lucy Whipple had six goals and secured six draw controls to lead Irondequoit. Brooke Endres and Ava Pittman each scored two goals for Spencerport.

Hawryschuk Scores 7 in Victor Win
Victor scored the opening goal of their 14-5 win over Fairport and never trailed. Bridget Flynn scored the first goal at 19:21 remaining in the first half with a fast-break goal. She went on to score 1g-3a for the Blue Devils. Fairport kept the game close for the first 15 minutes. One minute after Flynn's goal, Megan Koniecnzy scored with a cross-crease pass from Maddie Howe to tie the game at 1-1. Howe was a force for the Red Raiders with 2g-1a (to lead her team) and 6 draw controls (to lead her team).
Sophomores Lill and Bell Lead Schroeder to Victory
Sophomore Payton Lill scored back to back goals for Schroeder to give them the lead going into the second half. The Warriors defeated Churchville-Chili 15-7. Although Schroeder pulled away in the second half, the first 15 minutes of the contest were back and forth.
Biggest Game Night of the Season
With nine games being played, tonight was the biggest night of the season. The closest contest was HFL over Penfield 11-10 in overtime. Another close game was Canandaigua over R-H 8-5. There were also a number of one sided contests with Hilton defeated Eastridge 22-0, Spencerport over Arc/Oly 22-4 and Brockport 13-2 over Ath/Ody.
Three Close Games Including a Double Overtime
Starting off the fourth week, there were three close games today. Gananda defeated East Rochester 6-5 in double overtime. Geneva defeated Mynderse 10-8 and Wayne defeated Gates-Chili 10-7. In more one-sided contests, Penn Yan defeated Midlakes 16-6 and Waterloo defeated Newark 14-3.
Geneva Takes Lead in Final Three Minutes
Geneva scored the opening goal only 0:39 into the game with an unassisted goal from Ali Turner. Turner finished with 5g-1a for the Panthers. The Blue Devils stayed in the game in the beginning of the first quarter. They scored back to back goals to take their only lead of the game. Mykenzie Turner and Sarah Shaffer scored for the Blue Devils.
Cunningham Scores Back to Back in Overtime Win
Junior midfielder Jordan Cunningham scored back to back goals to end regulation and secure the win in overtime for Gananda. The Blue Panthers defeated East Rochester 6-5. The story was really a game of streaks. Gananda came out of the gate and scored four quick unanswered goals. East Rochester then took control of the pace of the game and scored five goals of their own to take their first lead with 3:23 remaining in regulation before Cunningham scored her goals.
End of Week #3
Another week completed in Section Five. The weather affected a the beginning of the week, but in total 13 games were played. The closest game was a triple overtime game with Greece Ath/Ody defeated Gates Chili.
Ath/Ody Defeats Gates Chili in Double Overtime
Greece Athena/Odyssey held off the late advances of Gates-Chili to secure a 8-7 win over the Spartans. Seanna Beikirch and Sofia Inclema scored three goals each in Thunder win. The Thunder initially trailed 3-1 before taking the 4-3 lead late in the first quarter. The game was close after that, but the Spartans never re-took the lead. The Thunder led by one with 12 minutes left in regulation. The Spartans kept up their pressure and tied the game with 4 minutes left. It took two quarters, but the Thunder pulled out the win.
Canandaigua and Greece Ath/Ody Win Close Games
With only four games being played tonight, Canandaigua came back in the second half to defeat Penfield 7-5. Greece Athena/Odyssey held off a late advance by Gates-Chili to win 8-7 in double overtime. Pittsford defeated Victor 9-4 and Mynderse defeated East Rochester 11-6. Mercy was in Akron, OH to face Archbishop Hoban and defeated them 10-7.
