Nothnagle and Herring Lead RH in Win
Rush Henrietta came back with the final three goals to defeat Webster Thomas 8-7. The Royal Comets were led by their defense. Goalie Kaila Herring and defenseman Clare Nothnagle were demonstrative in the win and were the key factors for the Royal Comets. The remaining three starting close defensemen were all Sophomores and also had a great day: Jenna DeVito, Amber Daley and Grace Nothnagle.
Six Games on Monday
There were six games played tonight. The closest game of the night was RH over Thomas 8-7. Additionally, Victor defeated Hilton 12-10, Schroeder defeated Greece Storm 12-6, Pittsford defeated Penfield 9-2 and Pal-Mac defeated Geneva 17-1. The score for Gates Chili vs. Churchville-Chili is still pending.
End of Week #2
There were only 13 matches played in Week #2. This week was Break Week for schools, so not a lot of game were scheduled to start with; then weather took a toll and a number of games were cancelled/postponed. The closest match-up was Baldwinsville over Penfield in overtime 7-6.
Last Day of Break Week
The last day of break week had two more games. South Jefferson defeated HFL 16-3 and Fairport defeated Corning 14-11.
Thursday Night Games
Four games were played tonight. Pittsford defeated Suffern 9-1, Mercy defeated Geneva 17-7 and Penfield defeated HFL 11-6. Victor played Fayetteville-Manlius; however, the score is not currently reported.
Two More Games for Break Week
Of the three games scheduled today, only two got played. Fairport vs. Ithaca was postponed. Canandaigua defeated Morristown 10-8 and in the game was that re-scheduled from yesterday, Pittsford defeated Scarsdale 15-4.
First Night of Break Week
Canandaigua defeated Chatham 14-5 and Baldwinsville defeated Penfield 7-6 in overtime in the two match-ups that were played tonight. The Pittsford vs. Scarsdale game was postponed due to field conditions. They hope to play the game tomorrow.
End of Week #1
There were not a lot of matches played in Week #1. Of the 16 games that were played there were three single goal contests: Livonia defeated Wayne 9-8, Eastridge defeated Wayne 5-4 and Skaneateles defeated R-H 8-7.
Thursday Adds Three More to the Season
There were three games played tonight. Fairport defeated Victor 8-6, Skaneateles defeated RH 8-7 and Penn Yan played Geneva (score still pending).
Biggest Game Night of the Week
There were seven games played today in Section Five. Marcus Whitman defeated Gananda 14-10 in the highest scoring game of the night. Eastridge over Wayne 5-4 was the closest game of the night with Thomas' 9-7 win over Hilton also a close contest. In the lone game with an out-of-section opponent, West Genesee defeated HFL 11-5.
Eastridge Comes Back for Win in Season Opener
Eastridge scored the last three goals of the game to defeat Wayne 5-4 in their season opener. The Lancers trailed for most of the first half before tying the game with 4:15 left in the first half. They continued their streak in the second half with the only goal. In total, Eastridge held the Eagles scoreless for just short of 40 minutes.
West Genesee Defeats HFL
West Genesee traveled to HFL this afternoon and defeated the Cougars 11-5. After a close first half, West Genesee pulled ahead in the second half off a pair of man-up goals in the final ten minutes.
Two Games on Tuesday
There were only two games played tonight with Thomas defeating Pal-Mac 12-10 and Newark defeating Gates Chili 14-2.
Opening Day of 2018
The first three games of the season were played today in Section Five. Canandaigua defeated Churchville-Chili 17-4, Aquinas defeated Mynderse-Romulus 11-6 and Livonia defeated Wayne 9-8.

Lacrosse for Girls is vibrant and exciting in New York State Section V. The scholastic game is governed by the New York State Public School Athletic Association - Section Five. Girls' Lacrosse Chairmen Jeff Onze and his girls` lacrosse committee determine, each year, together with the boys chairman and the boys' committee, the structure of the Section Five lacrosse tournaments.
Thirty-Two Teams in 2018
This year there are thirty-two teams play in the Section as the result of Greece forming one team from two. All four schools in Greece will come together to form "the Storm". Just before the season started, Romulus joined Mynderse Academy for a combined team.
Team Reporter Clinics Available
Kyle Barrett and Paul Wilson will once again offer a clinic for team reporters. This year the clinic will be offered at the Pittsford Mendon High School.
