Another Big Night for the Middle of the Week

There were 11 games played tonight in Section Five.  Spencerport fell to Victor 12-8 which leaves only Pittsford as being undefeated on the season.  The closest game of the night was Gananda over Geneva 11-10.  Additional scores included, Pittsford over C-C 17-0, Canandaigua over Brockport 16-2, Brighton over Eastridge 18-1, Penfield over Gates Chili 19-1, Mercy over Aquinas 11-6, Penn Yan over Wayne 15-3, RH over Greece Storm 15-9, HFL over Irondequoit 11-7 and Fairport over Hilton 17-7.

The closest match-up of the night was Gananda over Geneva 11-10.  The game had three ties and was never farther apart then three goals.  The three goal span was after the opening goal when Geneva went up 3-0 off goals from Ellie Aliperti, Kacey Thibault and Bailey Wayne.  Gananda responded with five goals of their own to take the lead.  After that the game was never more than 2 goals apart.  Leading in scoring for Geneva was Lily Sellers with 5g.  For Gananda, Jenna Ginsberg (5g) led.  Additional stats are HERE.

Victor took the lead early in the match and held off the late advance by the Rangers in their 12-8 win.  Spencerport fought back to an 8-7 game halfway through the second quarter before Victor scored 4 unanswered to secure their lead.  Erin Coykendall (1g-3a) and Camryn Sack (4g) led in scoring for the Rangers.  Additional stats are HERE.

RH defeated Greece Storm 15-9 in a game that was closer than the final score.  The Royal Comets came out to an early 5-0 lead before the Strom fought back to within one goal early in the second half (7-6).  The Royal Comets responded with another run and increased the lead to 15-6 before Greece scored the final three goals.  Madison Bodnar (3g-2a) led for the Storm.  Emily Benham led in draw controls with 4.  For RH, Kate Mashewske led in draw controls with six.  Gabby Garrett led the scoring charge with 3g-3a.  Over the course of the game, RH scored 8 of their 15 goals off the 8m line.  Additional stats are HERE.

Brighton defeated Eastridge 18-1.  Leading in scoring for the Barons was Kathryn Smolensky with 6g-1a.  Katie Lederman (2g-3a) and Caroline Lederman (3g-1a) also finished with high points.  Rene Gangarosa led in draw controls with six.  Additional stats are HERE.

Penn Yan defeated Wayne 15-3.  The Mustangs were led in scoring by Elissa Callaway (4g-1a) and Hannah Keech (3g-2a).  Sydney Bloom dominated the draw and recorded 16 draw controls.  Additional stats are HERE.

Penfield led 16-1 at halftime before defeating Gates Chili 19-1.  The Patriots had 17 players make their offensive book with no player over three points.  Morgan Cox (2g-1a), Madigan Lublin (2g-1a) and Torrey Paladino (1g-2a) each finished with three points.  Emily Shortino recorded 5 draw controls to lead Penfield.  Additional stats are HERE.

Canandaigua led 10-0 at the half, on their way to a 16-2 win over Brockport.  The Blue Devils were led in scoring by Leah Daly, who scored both goals.  Tori Lammes recorded 2 caused turnovers for Brockport.  For the Braves, LaRen Blakesley (2g-3a) and Lexi Braniecki (3g-2a) led in scoring.  Emma O'Neill (4g) and Lindsay Reho (1g-3a) also scored for Canandaigua.  Additional stats are HERE.

Fairport defeated Hilton 17-7.  Amanda Hilderbrandt led for Hilton with 4g.  Sydney Carpender (5) and Logan Hibbard (4) led in draw controls for the Cadets.  Additional stats are HERE.

Mercy defeated Aquinas 15-10.  Sami Carey led in scoring with 5g-5a.  Kristyn Johnson added another 4g-2a to the count.  Karli Harnischfeger and Johnson each recorded four draw controls.  Additional stats are HERE.
