Victor Wins NYS Championship

DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - It was one for three in the New York State Championships as Victor won their fifth consecutive title, while Penfield and Penn Yan fell. 

PENFIELD-6 at HUNTINGTON-9 - The Patriots fell just short in their pursuit of back-to-back championships. The teams were tied at six entering the fourth quarter, but Huntington (XI) scored three unanswered goals to take the class A title.

VICTOR-13 at GARDEN CITY-5 - The Blue Devils jumped out to a 4-0 first-quarter lead en route to their fifth consecutive NYS class B championship. Only Garden City (VIII), which won seven consecutive class B titles from 2006 through 2012, has had a longer championship run. The Blue Devils complete yet another extraordinary season with a record of 19-4.     [Story and BOX SCORE

Three Section V Girls Teams Advance to Championships

DAY IN REVIEW: FRIDAY -  Three Section V programs won their state semifinal games Friday at SUNY Cortland. Victor rolled past Queensbury 17-8 and will look to claim a fifth consecutive Class B title on Saturday. Penfield got four goals from Peyton Rothfuss in an 18-4 win over Shaker and will face Huntington in the Class A final. Penn Yan defeated Canton 19-4 and advances to the Class D final.

Section V Girls Go 3-for-4 in Regionals

DAY IN REVIEW: SATURDAY - Saturday's girls' regional quarterfinals produced another strong showing for Section V, with three of four teams advancing while HFL fell in heartbreaking fashion. Penn Yan rolled past Westhill 14-4 behind four goals from Bailey Cooper and a solid five-save effort from Megan Wheeler. Penfield edged West Genesee 12-11 to extend their winning streak to 14 games, and Victor cruised past Fayetteville-Manlius 16-8 for their sixth consecutive win.

Section V Girls Go 4-for-4 Vs Section VI

DAY IN REVIEW: THURSDAY - All four Section V girls' programs swept their Section VI opponents Thursday, extending a remarkable streak to 56 consecutiveNYS tournament wins against Section VI dating back to 2009. Penn Yan (18-1) led the way with Miley Anderson's five goals and Bailey Cooper's six assists, while HF-L got five goals from Shaye Angelo and six assists from Emma Blythe. Penfield won their thirteenth straight and Victor continued their strong postseason run.

Girls` Championships Mirror Boys` Sweep: HFL, Victor, Penfield & Penn Yan Claim Titles

DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - In a remarkable storyline, the same four schools that captured girls' sectional lacrosse championships also claimed the boys' titles — HFL, Victor, Penfield, and Penn Yan completing a stunning sweep across the board. In addition HFL and Victor will play the same Section VI teams in the next round.

Penn Yan and Penfield Repeat as Champions

DAY IN REVIEW: MONDAY  - Penn Yan claimed its fourthconsecutive Class D title with a dominant performance, as Bailey Cooper led the way with six goals, two assists, and 14 draw controls, with Addison Gillette and Makenna Mullins each adding three goals. In Class A, top-seeded Penfield held off Fairport to repeat as champions.

Two Thrillers Set the Stage for Finals

DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - Today's girls lacrosse semifinals delivered two thrillers and two convincing wins.  No. 2 Victor edged No. 3 Irondequoit 9-8 in overtime in a Class B semifinal, and top-seeded Pittsford held off Canandaigua 12-10 in the other Class B matchup. In Class C, No. 1 Honeoye Falls-Lima rolled past Wayne behind four goals each from Harper Jacob and Shaye Angelo, while No. 2 Livonia-Avon-Geneseo got five goals and four assists from Lily Rowe in a win over Geneva.

Top Seeds Advance to Finals

DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - Today's Section V girls lacrosse semifinals produced four home wins. Fairport's Camryn DuBose scored four goals and four assists and Ellie Miller added five goals in a 17-6 win over Rush-Henrietta, while Penn Yan's Bailey Cooper scored six goals and Miley Andersen reached 100 career points in a 19-1 win over Marcus Whitman. Penfield got three goals and two assists from Peyton Rothfuss and first varsity goals from freshmen Sydney Rothfuss and Caterina Raggi in a 16-3 win over Greece Storm, and Canandaigua advanced as well behind four goals each from Maci Mueller and Keira Gioseffi in a 13-8 win over Mercy.

The Section V championship matchups are set. Penn Yan will face Pal-Mac in one final, and Penfield will meet Fairport in the other.

Five Higher Seeded Teams Advance to Semis

DAY IN REVIEW: FRIDAY - Friday's Section V quarterfinals were all home wins. Victor's Camryn Adrid scored six goals and Meaghan O'Brien recorded her 50th Brighton vs Irondequoitcareer assist in a 19-6 win over Spencerport, Irondequoit's Bottiglier trio led a 13-4 defeat of Brighton, and Livonia-Avon-Geneseo's Lily Rowe erupted for nine goals as the Lakers rolled past Brockport 19-4 to stretch their winning streak to 12. Geneva got 15 combined goals from Meghan Forbes, Velia DeMaria, and Allison Marquart in an 18-3 win over Newark-Midlakes, and Pittsford topped Hilton 14-5. Semifinals are next. 

SPENCERPORT-6 at VICTOR-19 - Camryn Adrid's six goals and Meaghan O'Brien's five assists and milestone 50th career assist carried Victor to a 19-6 Section V quarterfinal win over Spencerport, with eight different players finding the net for the Blue Devils. Whitman and Canandaigua Advance to Semis

DAY IN REVIEW: THURSDAY - Today's Section V quarterfinals produced two home wins, as Marcus Whitman's freshman-powered offense got three goals from Kaylee Hey and two goals and two assists from Aubriella Bowman in an 11-6 win over Gananda-Marion in Class D, while Canandaigua's Maci Mueller and freshman Keira Gioseffi each scored four goals in a 13-8 defeat of Mercy in Class B. Marcus Whitman will face Penn Yan in the semifinals, and Canandaigua advances as well and will play the winner of Pittsford vs Hilton. 

GANANDA-MARION-6 at MARCUS WHITMAN-11 - A freshman-driven offense led by Kaylee Hey and Aubriella Bowman carried Marcus Whitman to an 11-6 Class D quarterfinal win over Gananda-Marion, setting up a semifinal matchup at Penn Yan.    [Story and BOX SCORE

Brighton, Mercy, Hilton & Spencerport Advance to the Class B Quarterfinals

DAY IN REVIEW: TUESDAY - Four first-round Class B playoff games were played, with all four higher seeds advancing. Brighton topped Schroeder 10-3, Mercy defeated Gates Chili 17-3 behind Mia Quagrello's three goals and 10 draw controls, Hilton edged Thomas 8-6 with Lola Vogt's 10 saves sealing the win, and Spencerport defeaed Churchville-Chili 20-1 as Brooke Endres notched her 300th career point. The quarterfinal matchups are set: Brighton vs. Irondequoit, Mercy vs. Canandaigua, Hilton vs. Pittsford, and Spencerport vs. Victor.

2026 Section V Tournament Set

The seedings for the 2026 have been determined and the brackets are now set. Round 1 games will start the tournaments as four games are set for Tuesday, May 19th. 


#8 Thomas will host #9 Hilton with the winners playing #1 Pittsford.

#5 Mercy will host #11 Gates Chili with the winners playing  #4 Canandaigua

#7 Spencerport will host #10 Churchville-Chili with the winners playing  #2 Victor

#6 Brighton will host #11 Schroeder with the winners playing  #3 Irondequoit


In Class A, Penfield takes the top seed. In Class C, it is Honeoye Falls-Lima and in Class D, Penn Yan takes top seed.
