Ten Different Red Raiders Score
Pal-Mac defeated Wayne 14-6 with ten different Red Raiders scoring at least one goal and twelve making the offensive scorebook. Leading the charge was junior attackman Anna Leva with 3g-2a. Leva lead Pal-Mac is both assists and points with 19g-31a (Pal-Mac Season Totals). The Eagles were led by junior midfielder Mary Panepento with 3g-1a. In addition to their offensive leader, goalie Rachel Haywood finished the game with 9 saves and played a strong game between the pipes at 50% over 44 minutes.
The game started off close; Pal-Mac scored the opening goal with an inside feed from Aldyn to Cierra Scheik. The Red Raiders held the 1-0 lead for over ten minutes until Hannah Zenelovic scored unassisted with a drive down the right side of the cage. Four minutes later Emma Arnold scored the first of her three goals for the Red Raiders with a drive down the middle. This time the Eagles tied the game in less than a minute. Panepento picked up a dropped ball on defense and took the ball coast to coast to tie the game at 2-2. Over the first fifteen minutes of the contest the teams looked evenly match. Slowly the Eagles began to make mistakes and Pal-Mac capitalized on every one. The Red Raiders scored five more goals to end the half in the final eight minutes. Most were a direct result of an error by Wayne. Pal-Mac led 7-2 at the half.
Although Wayne scored the first goal of the second half with a man-up goal from Panepento, the Red Raiders scored the next seven. Panepento's goal was a wrap around drive from behind the cage. Pal-Mac scored the next five goals with Morgan Osborne between the pipes. Each goal was scored by a different Red Raider with three unassisted drives and two inside feeds from Leva. Haywood returned to the cage with 19:10 remaining and recorded another five saves and only two goals against in the second half. Leva scored with a wrap around drive from behind the cage and shortly there after Oliva Keller assisted Jamie Walker on the crease.
The final three goals of the game were scored by the Eagles. Zenelovic scored during a broken clear with an assist from Bailey Pratt. Panepento assisted the penultimate goal with an inside feed to Mackenzie Orcutt. The final goal was a fast-break goal by Panepento. In the cage for the Red Raiders, Tori Greco finished with 7 saves (54%). Much like thier scoring, Pal-Mac spread out their draw controls. Nine players had at least one control with Savage finishing at 3. For the Eagles, Jillian Pembroke finished with 3 controls.
Defensively, there were stand out performances from Casey Hibbard, Emily Welch, Bailey Pratt and Jillian Pembroke for the Eagles. For Pal-Mac, Savage had a number of strong defensive stops, along with Kacie Matteson, Jomarie McIntyre and Mollie Comella.
