Schroeder Wins with 5 Seconds Remaining

Webster Schroeder scored the final three goals of the contest to comeback and defeat Hilton 14-13.  The Warriors led early in the game before Hilton took the lead for a large portion of the second half.  Schroeder held the Cadets scoreless for the final 11:57 while scoring the tying and game winning goals in the final 1:11.

The first ten minutes was a close matchup with both teams scoring.  Schroeder scored first with Payton Lill scoring the first of her 4g-1a only 0:49 into the contest.  Hilton then responded with two of their own with scoring from Amanda Hilderbrandt and Payton Cook.  Lill's four goals were the first four goals for the Warriors.  After her third goal the game was tied 3-3 with 15:10 remaining in the first half.  The Warriors added another four goals before the Cadets scored again.

With 5:56 remaining, Schroeder led 7-3.  Hilton fought back and scored four of the next five goals cut the lead to only one goal going into halftime.  The Warriors led 8-7 after 25 minutes.  After scoring the last two goals of the first half, the Cadets continued into the second half and scored three more unanswered.  They continued to hold on to the lead until Schroeder fought back in the final minutes.

Schroeder tied the game with 1:11 remaining off an unassisted goal from Madison Bell.  The game winning goal was scored off an 8m free position goal by Kayla Purcell.  For the Warriors, Lill led in draw controls with 13.  She also recorded a team leading 7 groundballs.  For Hilton, Sydney Carpenter led with 3 draw controls.  Amanda Elia recorded 3 groundballs and Taylor Inman recorded 3 caused turnovers.
