Class A State Title - Pittsford over Middle Country

Pittsford's Ellie Mooney scored the game winning goal in the second overtime period off an 8m free position shot to give Pittsford the Class A State Title.  This is the first State Title for the Panthers and the first in Class A for Section Five.  Section Five has only won four State Titles with the last time being Brighton in 2005.  Pittsford defeated Middle Country 10-9.  Jenna Doyle (2g) was named Tournament MVP.  In addition to the girl's the Pittsford boys played in the State Final match, where they lost to Ward Melville 10-9 also in overtime (HERE).

Pittsford took an early 5-2 lead before Middle Country fought back to a 5-5 tie at the half.  Coming out of halftime Middle Country scored two goals to take the lead.  Pittsford, Jillian Quevedo (2), Jenna Doyle and Caroline Cullinan scored four straight goals to put the Panthers back on top with 3:59 remaining.  The Panthers attempted to hold the ball, but Middle Country's Ava Barry (3g-2a) and Jamie Ortega (4g-1a) tied the game in the final 90 seconds.  Both teams had chances at the goal in the first overtime period.  Mooney scored with 1:55 remaining in the second overtime period.
