Pal-Mac Wins in Sixth Annual Cradle for the Cure
In the first game of the Girls-Boys Double Header of the "Cradle for a Cure" program, the girl's of Pal-Mac defeated Wayne 20-2. This marked the sixth annual "Cradle for a Cure" matchup to support a local family and Camp Good Days and Special Times. The local fundraising/awareness event is currently in its sixth year. The Red Raiders scored the first eight goals of the matchup, including three in the first 1:04. The opening goal was an 8m goal from Alea Javorowsky. Twelve seconds later, Andra Savage assisted Jamie Walker on a slow break after Savage controlled the draw. Savage was demonstrative on the circle and recorded 10 draw controls for the Red Raiders. The third goal was a straight drive from Savage. The first goal for the Eagles was scored by Katie Leaty with a drive from behind the cage. She drove along the left side of the crease before planting her foot and switching hands to score on the inside pipe. Pal-Mac added another three goals before the half. Eva Lyko and Addison Carr both scored goals off broken clears followed by another drive from Savage. Pal-Mac led 11-1 at halftime.
In the second half, the Red Raiders kept up the high scoring offense. Savage scored the opener off a feed from Emma Arnold only 0:14 into the half. Arnold finished with 2g-4a for the Red Raiders. One goal of note came near the end of the game with Grace Seither scoring on a drive from behind the cage. The second Wayne goal was scored on fast-break goal from Paige Knowles. Pal-Mac added their final goal with 2:30 remaining on the clock. Carr fed the ball into the center of the crease and Riley Nolan grabbed the pass and finished into the back of the net. This was Nolan's first goal of the season.
In the cage for Wayne, Senior Morgan Osborne recorded 15 saves, including three off 8m free possession shots. Although Pal-Mac's offense was high scoring, Osborne still came up with a number of strong saves over the course of the game. She stopped more than one point blank shot from the crease.
