Fairport, Wayne, and Mercy Shine in High-Scoring Wins
DAY IN REVIEW: FRIDAY - Five lacrosse games were played on Friday, highlighted by Fairport's 16-5 win against Thomas in Monroe County action and Wayne's 15-7 non-league victory over Gates Chili. For Fairport, Ellie Miller scored five goals, Camryn DuBose contributed four goals and four assists, and Ella Peers had three goals and two assists along with 10 draw controls. Wayne's offense was led by Lauren Twist with seven goals and two assists, and Isabella Veltre with five goals and three assists. Elsewhere, Irondequoit secured a 9-3 victory over Colonie Central (section II), with goalies Emma Francis and Mia Conine combining for nine saves and eighth-grader Kate Bottiglier scoring her first varsity goal. Livonia-Avon-Geneseo defeated Salamanca (section VI) 16-8, underlined by a performance from Lily Rowe that included five goals, three assists, and eight draw controls. Mercy, featuring eight different goal scorers, routed Waterloo by a score of 16 to 3.
