Championship Battles in Class A
DAY IN REVIEW: WEDNESDAY - In a day of intense lacrosse action, No. 1 Victor edged No. 2 Pittsford 11-9 to claim its fourth consecutive Class B title. Julia Bruno had three goals to lead Victor. In class A, No. 1 Penfield extended its winning streak to seven games with a decisive 16-9 victory over No. 3 Rush-Henrietta to earn its first title since 2018. Whitney Reynolds and Jenna Capozzi each scored four goals and Peyton Rothfuss won a game-high 12 draw controls for Penfield; in defeat, Rush-Henrietta's Kate DeWald achieved her milestone 150th career goal and 300th career draw control.
RUSH-HENRIETTA-9 at PENFIELD-16 - Whitney Reynolds and Jenna Capozzi each had four goals and one assist, and Peyton Rothfuss won a game-high 12 draw controls to lead No. 1 Penfield to its first class A championship since 2018. Kate DeWald had four goals and two assists for No. 3 Rush-Henrietta. Penfield will take on Orchard Park (section VI) in the regionals on Saturday.
