Irondequoit Advances to Class B Semifinals
No. 4 Irondequoit built a 9-1 halftime lead en route to a 15-3 win over No. 5 Spencerport in a class B quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday evening. For the Eagles, the win was a measure of payback for Spencerport's victory over Irondequoit in last year's quarterfinals.
Revlie Genier (3g/1a), Lucy Whipple (3g/2a), and Ellie Bottiglier (3g) led the scoring for Irondequoit. Grace Bottiglier added two goals and one assist. Marin Jaeger (1g/1a) scored her first varsity goal in the game; she also won a team-high five draw controls. Emma Francis and Mia Conine combined for four saves.
For Spencerport, Brooke Endres (2g/1a) and Aria Pittman (1g) accounted for all the scoring. The Rangers finish the season with a record of 9-9.
With the victory, the Eagles advance to the semifinal round, where they will face top-seed Victor on Thursday. Victor won the regular season matchup between the teams by a score of 19-5. [ Story and BOX SCORE]
