Friday: Seven Mismatches

DAY IN REVIEW: FRIDAY - Of the eight games played on Friday, all but one was a mismatch. Newark-Midlakes defeated Wayne 14-11 as Stella Del Papa scored her 100th career goal and Kathryn Verdine scored her 50th goal for the Reds.

FAIRPORT-17 at CHURCHVILLE-CHILI-1 - Fairport traveled to Churchville-Chili this evening and took down the Saints on their home turf 17-1.  Fairport saw 12 different players post points in the rout, including Kate Balland and Kate Patterson’s first career varsity goals and Goalie Taylor Frank’s first career victory between the pipes.    [ BOX SCORE

100 goalsWAYNE-11 at NEWARK-MIDLAKES-14 -  Newark-Midlakes defeated Wayne 14-11 in Newark this evening in a hard-fought battle between two Finger Lakes opponents.  In a high-scoring game, Kathryn Verdine (4g-1a) who scored her 50th career goal and Kate Mahoney (3g-2a) led the way with 5 points for the Reds, while Stella Del Papa (3g-1a) also had a productive evening scoring her 100th career goal.  Meanwhile, Isabella Veltre (4g-2a), and Abby Brown (3g) kept Wayne close.      [ BOX SCORE

SCHROEDER-6 at SPENCERPORT-16 - Spencerport notched their 3rd straight victory with a dominant 16-6 win over Webster Schroeder in Spencerport tonight.  Brooke Enders (4g-3a) led all scorers with a balanced 7 points, while Molly Guzik (6g) was the high goal scorer for Spencerport.  Webster Schroeder falls to 3-8 with the loss.  Spencerport will look to extend their wing strike against Brighton on Monday.     [ BOX SCORE

RUSH-HENRIETTA-4 at CANANDAIGUA-8 -  Rush-Henrietta put their undefeated record on the line against Canandaigua in Canandaigua tonight and was handed their first loss of the season as the Braves doubled up the Royal Comets 8-4.  In a physical and competitive match-up between section V’s two Nationally ranked teams, Canandaigua showed their offensive and defensive depth in victory, highlighted by 5 saves from Senior Goalie, Maggie Cross, Offensive production from Juniors Hanna Davis (1g-4a), and Makenna Crouse (3g), and key second half Draw Controls won by Liv Schorr and Nola Weaver.  Kate DeWald (1a) won 6 Draw Controls in total for Rush Henrietta, while Junior Ashlyn Roberts (2g) was the Royal Comets leading goal scorer on the evening.     [ BOX SCORE

GANANDA-MARION-0 at PAL-MAC-16 -  Pal-Mac blanked Gananda-Marion 16-10 at home to improve their record to 9-2, while Gananda-Marion falls to 1-9.  11 different players scored for Pal-Mac as they dominated play, especially impressive in scooping up 32 ground balls as a team.     [ BOX SCORE

HILTON-21 at EASTRIDGE-2 - Despite 17 saves for Eastridge Goalie Melody Gaudio, Hilton was able to defeat Eastridge by a score of 21-2. Sydney Heise (5g-3a), and Lily Mattucci (4g-2a) led the offensive onslaught for Hilton, as they improved their record to 3-7, while Eastridge dipped to 2-9.  Charley Barlette (4g-1a), Sophia Gizzi (3g) and Leah Kunisch (3g) all also recorded hat tricks for Hilton.     [ BOX SCORE

GENEVA-3 at AQUINAS-18 -  Aquinas had a big night in the victory over Geneva 18-3 at home tonight.  Aquinas improves to 10-2 behind 5 goals and 3 assists from Senior Sienna Hinchcliffe, and 3 goals, 3 assists from Gianna Leonardi. Goalie, Maddie Skin made 10 saves for Geneva.  Aquinas tests their winning record against Mercy on Monday.    [ BOX SCORE

PENN YAN-9 at HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA-14 - Cougars handle Penn Yan 14-9 today becoming 7-4 on the season. Led on the offensive end by Cam Trybuskiewicz (2 goals 3 assists) and Clare Ruff (4 goals 1 assist), the Cougars had six different point holders. Katie Adams (3 DC) and Paige Kidd (5 DC) controlled the circle. Lillian Brady had 9 saves in the cage and the defense had a total of 7 caused turnovers. The Cougars are back home tomorrow vs Horseheads hoping to improve to 8-4.  For Penn Yan, Bailey Cooper scored 2 goals and dished out 4 assists.     [ BOX SCORE
