Lakers Remain Undefeated

DAY IN REVIEW: THURSDAY - Livonia-Avon remained undefeated at 5-0 with their win over Marcus Whitman. Other winners today were Mercy, Mynderse-Romulus, and Eastridge/Bishop Kearney.

Penn Yan vs WesthillAQUINAS-5 at MERCY-19 - The Monarchs built a 14-4 halftime lead and coasted to their third victory of the season.  Mercy received scoring from 11 players, including Mia Quagrello (4g/2a), Maeve Shanahan (3g/1a), Mia Lusardi (2g/2a), and Sydney Cook (2g/2a).  Lusardi’s second assist was the 50th of her varsity career.  Tessie Vogt, Avery Parrinello, and Lizzy Creary each scored her first varsity goal for Mercy.  Savannah Hinchcliffe led Aquinas with three goals; she also collected six draw controls, including the 200th of her varsity career.  Next up for both teams on Saturday are non-league matches against section VI opponents, with the Monarchs traveling to Lancaster and Little Irish playing host to Nardin Academy.    [ BOX SCORE

Penn Yan vs WesthillLIVONIA-AVON-12 at MARCUS WHITMAN-6 -  With the win, the Lakers (5-0) remain one of only two undefeated squads in section V.  There were no statistics reported from Livonia-Avon at post time.  Sophia Snyder tallied three goals and an assist for the Wildcats, Helen Snyder recorded six draw controls, and Alissa Gorton had nine saves.  Both teams resume play at home on Monday; Livonia-Avon faces Aquinas and Marcus Whitman takes on Geneva.   [ BOX SCORE

PENN YAN-7 at WESTHILL-11 -  It was only the second loss of the season for the Mustangs (6-2), who were led by Bailey Cooper (4g) and Marion Wheeler (8s).  The Mustangs will take on their sixth non-league opponent of the season on Saturday when they travel to Hamburg (VI).   [ BOX SCORE

Penn Yan vs WesthillWAYNE-4 at MYNDERSE-ROMULUS-9 - The Blue Devils picked up their first victory of the season behind a three-goal performance by Myah Herron and stellar goaltending from Maria Del Carmen (8s).  Macey Seneca scored her first two varsity goals for Mynderse-Romulus.  Madelyn Hillman had two goals for the Eagles, who drop to 2-5.  The Blue Devils visit Newark-Midlakes on Monday.  The Eagles look to get back on the winning track Friday when they take on Gates Chili.    [ BOX SCORE

GANANDA-MARION-4 at EASTRIDGE/BK-18 -  For Eastridge/Bishop Kearney, it was the third win of the season against one loss.  Jillian Willis (6g/1a), Ada Krupa (5g/2a), and Ashley Mandeville (4g/2a) provided the bulk of the scoring for Eastridge/Bishop Kearney, while Lucy Fitzsimmon and Kayla Gerson each scored her first varsity goal.  There were no statistics reported from Gananda-Marion at post time.  Eastridge/Bishop Kearney hosts Waterloo on Friday.  The Blue Panthers seek their first victory of the season Saturday when they play host to Mexico (III).   [ BOX SCORE
