Irondequoit Wins in Overtime Thriller

In a tightly contested Monroe County girls' lacrosse matchup, Irondequoit claimed an 8-7 overtime victory against Hilton on Thursday evening. The contest was a continuation of a game which was suspended on Wednesday. Junior attacker Grace Bottiglier's second goal of the game in overtime was the game-winner. Ellie Bottiglier and Revlie Genier also netted two goals apiece for the Eagles, and sophomore Lila Velepec scored her first varsity goal in the victory.

Hilton fought hard, rallying with a three-goal fourth quarter to force overtime. Midfielder Lilly Mattucci led the Cadets with two goals and two assists, supported by attacker Maia Streb's two goals. Ryleigh Lent and Jayleigh Esposito added a goal and an assist each. Junior goalkeeper Juliana Turner recorded 10 saves on 18 shots for a 56% save rate.

This victory marked Irondequoit's sixth consecutive win over Hilton in their series dating back to 2017. Irondequoit, now 1-0, will face Pal-Mac on Saturday, while Hilton, 0-1, looks to bounce back against Mercy on Friday.
