R-H Earns First-Ever Win Over Penn Yan
In the regular-season finale for both teams, Rush-Henrietta defeated Penn Yan 12-7 in a non-league matchup on Wednesday. Holding just a slim 5-3 lead at halftime, the Royal Comets pulled away over the next 12 minutes, outscoring the Mustangs 5-1 in the third quarter. It was the Royal Comets' first win ever against Penn Yan, in the first game between the teams since 2010.
Riley Brown led Rush-Henrietta (11-5) with five goals and one assist. Kate DeWald contributed three goals and one assist. Danielle Garrett added two goals and three assists, and Isabella Artessa tallied two goals and one assist. Junior goalie Taylor Potwin made eight saves, finishing with a 53% save rate over 48 minutes.
For Penn Yan (7-8), Bailey Cooper (4g), Gianna Voigt (2g), Ruby Berry (1g), and Miley Andersen (3a) accounted for all of the scoring. Senior midfielder Maihue Miranda-Wiltberger won 12 draw controls to help keep the game close. [ Story and BOX SCORE]
