Rush Henrietta Wins 5th Straight

Rush Henrietta led 7-1 on their way to a 10-5 win over Honeoye Falls-Lima.  The Royal Comets have won their last five games (Penfield, Thomas, Schroeder) and improved their record to 8-4 (back in April they were 3-4).  The Cougars, who were just off a 12-9 win over Victor, only scored two goals in the first half.

Coming out of halftime, RH led 7-2.  The Cougars played a stronger second half, but never got closer than three goals.  RH played a slow second half and kept the pace of game down so that HFL could not capitalize and go on a run.  RH scored the first goal of the second half with a free position shot from Gabby Garrett.  The Cougars scored the next three goals to bring the game closer.  Kierin Ratliff scored off a feed from behind the cage by Caitlin Muir.  Muir assisted again from behind for the second goal, this time to Payton Reed.  She then scored the third goal herself with a drive down the center of the field.

RH scored the last two goals, including an empty net goal after HFL pulled their goalie in attempts to double the ball.  Maddy George and Garrett scored the final two Royal Comet goals.  In the cage for RH, Leah DiDomenico recorded eight saves (5 in the second half).  Jessica Mitchell recorded three saves for the Cougars.

Brittany Chamberlain finished with a team leading four draw controls for the Cougars.  Villanti added another three.  For the Royal Comets, freshman Kate Mashewske finished with three draws and Destinee Johnson added another two.  This game marks the first time RH has defeated HFL since 2008 when the Cougars won 7-6.
